I know a lot of people who have the same reaction to GSD's, Rotties, Dobies, etc.. If the breed were bred for protection of people or animals I would assume the "hackles up" type appearance would be a real asset. I really think he may just be looking up at some distraction from the photographer. My pup has a few pics where I held a squeeky too high while taking his picture and it came out much like this. Chows kind of have that sort of look too.

1doggie2: They aren't really like a chow. At least mine have not been. You do have to be careful to socialize them as puppies so they are not too guardy but both of mine are very very friendly. Some of them can be pretty aloof with strangers, I hear they really like to dig but neither of mine are diggers. Supposedly they are terrible jumpers too but none of mine have ever tried to go over a standard sized fence although my female could if she wanted to. However, I think she is pretty sure she's a working line GSD anyway.

Yellowrose: If I can figure out how to insert a picture here I'll post a couple. I tried it before and had no luck. I'm sure it is a handler error!! LOL

yellowrose: It wasn't so hard after all!! LOL He is very sweet and lovable. The picture is from last Oct and he was 1 1/2 at that time. I don't have a recent one on my computer. The door is in serious need of new paint. I haven't decided what color to use so I keep putting it off.

The dark wine reds are in now and I like it but Im a green and rose person and tiger and cat motiffs with black and not very much red in my house....I use yellow instead as an accent
I guess I could go dark yellow or Black
I have to have a professional paint the porch....not easily done.....

Yellowrose - I like the wine reds too but I don't really have red in my house either. Green is awesome but I
can't decide if a really dark green would be too dark. Probably need to do the shutters too. UGH!

I like the color gree n used by the metal roof makers......Its a pleasant dark green and some day I want a metal roof , If I live long enough to save enough money to buy one....
I did go to the reds in the master bedroom along with the cat and cougar prints but still use all the greens and moved the roses and rose motifs into the sun room.....the baths are all gone to the black and cat prints with yellow roses and lots of greeenery and straw ,stick added with it...
kept the wine rose colors with roses and cat print and green striped drapes in livingroom
I use an eclictic mode of decorating...a lot of purples added and cat and jungle print wallpaper in foyer..elephants are my big collection items and blue porcelein..
The pic on this thread of this monster dog would be neat in the bathroom , enlarged and framed....looks like a lion with a new color...
