My heart and prayers go out to you and your blessed heart dog. It never gets any easier, no matter how many times we go through it. Take comfort: He'll be waiting for you at the bridge.

I am sooo sorry to hear about your loss.
Yesterday I to had to put my 14 year old girl down. It was really hard. She was my first shepherd and the reason I have 2 more. Even though she lived w/ my ex-husband, and I still saw her often (not as much as I would have liked), I wanted to be there with her. With my daughters, we took her, laid with her and cried.
I've had to put down 2 dogs this year. Heidi was a blessing. And will always be with me. One day we meet again, and I know she'll be waiting. I miss you Heidi-ho!!!

Tracy, I just read this. My condolences! I am so sorry for Duke's passing. Some dogs leave pawprints on our hearts and we are never the same! I still miss my girl after more than 6 years.

Condolences go your way too for your loss. Never an easy thing...ever. There seems to be a lot of it happening lately but then, I guess with so many owners, we would hear this a lot. My prayers are with you all to ease your sorrow.

If you can stand one more...I'm sorry.. <passing around the Kleenex> You got the ole hard heart tearing up. It's what you and your Duke shared that made you both what you are and always will be. You taught him that humans have love and heart. He taught you a binding love that will grow with each thought of the other " Dukes" in your life. He paved the way for your love to grow and now you will re-pay him with a love that flourishes richly beyond all else. You were both blessed. Godspeed Duke.... Please nuzzle Gena and tell her I still cry after 23 years and some day I'll be there to kneel before her in thanks for what she taught me.
