Sheesh,
The pups are 3 months old already. For a 2 puppy litter, both I feel to have turned out to be "perfect".
Lars went to his forever home a week ago. He is Mr. Personality and an absolute hoot. He lives locally so I will get to see him often.
And this is Lara. She is everything I would want out of Galaxy in the female form. She is a doll, very smart, very self-confident and an absolute pleasure to be around. She has fabulous structure with a great front and rear. Nice moving girl with super bone. A piece of cake to raise (just like her father). She will never leave my home unless I cannot keep her because of reasons I cannot control.
Jeffrey,
Thanks for the kind words. Your loved one is very lucky in receiving your support at this time.
God Bless!
Maren

Jeffrey,
Let me say that I am very impressed by you and your kindness, humanity, lack of pomposity, and warm regard and respect for those of us who are commited to the breed but who may never have a VA dog.
There are many of us who have comparable relationships with our dogs such as Maren has with her Galaxy. My old Alex vom Nord Rasen was such a dog for me--he literally saved my life, gave me something to live for, and pulled me up during the lowest time of my life. In 1994, I lost my job due to disability and spent the next several years in a nightmare of pain coupled with 4 years if litigation.
Lex was always near me whatever I did. Although his breeder wanted to send him to Germany for titling, I could not part with him. Suddenly, in 1997, the job of finishing his titles was unexpectedly thrust upon me. Up to that time, schutzhund had been a spectator sport for me. I had my work cut out for me: I was almost 60 years old, weighed nearly 250 pounds, and had to walk with a cane. Even worse, Lex had experienced abuse and excessive compulsion with his previous trainers. I had to totally re-program him during the coming years.
The SchH2 seemed to take forever--but I would not give up. I trained and trialed on many fields with many helpers and had the pleasure of competing with some of the finest handlers in the sport. They were very supportive of me and did not riducule an old handler with her old showlines dog. Lex finished his SchH2 shortly before his 8th birthday and his SchH3 a few months later. During the following year, he completed his AKC CD and CDX.
As a result of working with Lex, I lost 115 pounds, increased my self-esteem, and had become a reasonably decent handler. Lex and I had become a "team". I always felt especially confident on the protection field with him. I knew that he would always run all 6 blinds, that his courage was unquestionable, and that he would always out. Thanks to old Lex, I met many fine GSD people along the way.
Although he passed 4 years ago, I will forever be indebted to Lex for giving me back my life.
Again, Jeffrey, thank you for being a warm considerate human being. I've never met you but have seen your photos with Bazi. Good luck to you with him and with your working competition dog, Carlo. Look me up if you are ever in Northern California.
And, lastly, Maren--good luck to you and Gally at NASS!

Sunshine: good luck and be careful driving......My shepherds have been my whole life since my husband died and I moved here to East Texas.....I wouldnt live one day here in the piney woods without them.....they have been my eyes, my sight , my heart, my encouragement and even , yes , my tears also......no other breed or dog could mount in love and loyality as they can....TO have trained with some great Schutzhund people , makes me proud , and I learned a lot , and have had the encouragement to do a lot with those dogs.....Jeffrey is a wonderful representative of this sport, and I applaud him for his kind words...and having an Urbecke grandchild and son of Ham to love....I know his ways of thinking....never had a softer more loving , bloodline to work with....softer in love....they have the most intrigueing look in their eyes and when that head cocks sideways when you speak to them , you almost melt...
Galaxy is great and now you have Lara what a blessing and something to work on now.....She is a little doll and I know you will have fun doing this one.....are you taking her with you? We
Someone , who knows KW said to tell you Hi....you dont know him,,but will in a week or two...he is going to bring Krishti up to see you and meet you He use to decoy for many of the clubs in Dallas years ago...and knows KW . We will all be there in spirit.....

Louise
Your story about you and your dog Alex is one of the most inspiring stories that I have heard in a long time.
This is truely why God gave us the German Shepherd Dog not only as a companion but also as mentor to help us get the most out of our own lives.
I really thank you for sharing this story with us as I am sure everyone with a GSD can relate to parts of your story.
For me , my dogs have also always been there for me as well and have taken me thru many a dark moments ,as we all have those terrible dark and low times in our lives but we all do not get thru them the same unless we have the support of another human being but unfortunaletly humans are never as "unconditional loving " as a GSD so for me the best route is the GSD as in the end that also makes us a little less demanding of our other human relationships as well.
well, it seems that you have worked your life out quite well over the past years and hopefully your enjoying the success and peace of mind that you have earned and rightfully deserve..
I look forward to meeting you in the future at one event or another .
Congratulations and Good Luck to your continued success.

Except for a few posts which I will chose to ignore, this has been a very inspiring thread and one that serves to enforce how much our dogs affect our lives in positive ways. I hope that all here have the pleasure of owning that "special" dog in their lifetime.

Totally agree with Blitzen--over all a lovely thread with exceptions noted. Jeffrey, my female Bienchen v. Tronje is scheduled to be bred to Bazi any day now, and I can hardly wait to pick her up at NASS when my friend Benny brings her back (bred, I hope!!!) from Europe. What a super dog--I can't wait to have those puppies. He was certainly splendid at the Sieger Show.
Maren, I am so sorry to hear about your healthy problems and so moved to read about Galaxy's role in keeping things from being much worse. I look forward to seeing you in STL as well.
Finally, Louise--your story was really inspiring as well. Thanks so much for sharing it. I hope to see you again at NASS as well.
Anxious to see everyone at NASS!

Hi Julia, wow, that litter sounds great. Good luck.
I won't be at NASS this year, another commitment with a Malamute will keep me away. Sorry to be missing it.
