As usual the helper work at the AWMA Nationals was first class. Both Clark and Armin did outstanding work. Both showed power and pressed the dogs without incident. After the trail the judge made it a point to tell me how much he like working with them.
Obviously the originator of this thread has a personal problem with Armin. I don’t know him on a personal basis. But angel or devil he did an excellent job.
Huge thanks to both Armin and Clark.

Yes Armin says the truth but when did saying the truth become wrong yeah it hurts sometimes but suck it up and learn from it.He has told me the truth alot but I have also learned alot from him.
Armin also does know alot more about dogs and thier drives and behaviors then most people in this sport will ever know.
It also seems from the responses there are more supporters then not.

What Realman, Jeff and Don no witty retort, especially from you Jeff as you are so quick to point out Schutzhund is crap?

Does anyone have a video link to this event? I wanted to see someone's dog.

I stated that Armin can do helper work. Go back and read my threads. I was merely being what you admire in Armin, honest. I didn't say he couldn't do helper work in any capacity. I said that it may be time to pass the torch when it comes to a national event. All of the other people that posted on here said he is a "star" and a very talented helper that can read a dog. That is great! He will never lose that. I commented that he did a great job slowing down the dogs in the courage test. I only stated a fact that when we get older our mobilty declines. I know I have a hard time getting off the couch to reach the remote control and potato chips.
Anyway, like I said before, you did a good job and it was nice to see a guy come from New York to work two dogs.

What type of witty retort would you like? Go back and read my two posts above. I don't understand what type of retort you want. I was simply being honest. I was there and I answered a question.

You've stated he did safe and correct helper work yet you feel the need to qualify by also stating " he needs to know when to pass the torch"....there is obiviously something that you find 'missing' for lack of a better word. How about you cut to the case and tell all these fine folks what leads you to believe he should "pass" the torch other than your opinion....are you disappointed he didn't show boat and helicopter the dogs...was there not enough ooo-awe factor in his work for your entertainment...be specific.

What don't you understand? I think I have said twice why he should think about passing the torch. I said he did a safe and correct job. I even complimented him on challenging the dogs and making them gather in the courage test. Not once did I say he had no business in that trial. I think that when the time comes that you need to wear multiple braces and your mobility is on the decline, that it is time to think about using your skills in a less demanding capacity. By that, I mean doing club trials, teaching others to do proper helperwork, seminars, and doing the helper work at the village. What is so wrong

Ok so even though Armin did what he was supposed to, because he wears ankle wraps and a knee brace he shouldn't work anything more than a club trial, seminars and such? ....Did he do something for you to question his amount of mobility or are you assuming because he wears the battle gear that he his hindered in the ways that he can move? What's next , an age limit?...Maybe helper's shouldn't be allowed to wear cups any longer either...heaven forbid we should be proactive and help stave off a possible injury by wearing protective equipment....

Are you one of those people that like to argue? Someone asked for an opinion and I was there, so I answered. Were you there? I take it you do not like my opinion, that if your mobility goes into decline, you must know your limitations. How hard is that to understand? If you don't like my opinion, fine, but I can't sit here and explain it to you over and over. I like Armin. I thought he did an adequate job. I used to like reading his articles in the USA magazines and occasionally I go back and read them again. I have recommended his articles to several people on here, several times.
If you go back and read my first post, like I already asked you to do, you would see that I am not one of those people that think the helicopter catch is something spectacular. However, you still need good mobility to do a 180 and immediately go into drive.
I can't keep typing the same thing over and over. Please read all of my posts again. I have tried to be honest without insulting anyone. I think Mike, Clark and Armin did a good job. Better than I can do.
by EliDog on 26 September 2007 - 17:09
I wasn't there but I can guarantee I've seen him catch more dogs than you. I know he wouldn't have agreed to work the trial if he didn't think he could do it effectively yet from what I can gather from your posts is that he should leave the bigger events to others. Care to point to me where in the VDH rules or USA helper rules you are required to take the dog 180 before you drive them? Am I correct you are basing your "mobility" issue on the fact he didn't automatically take all the dogs 180? As for arguing?...this thread was dead until you came back 2 weeks later and decided to breathe new life into it.
