If one type chooses to call themselves Alsatians (see Mr Brandons Lornaville website) thats a choice they can make - no problem with that if we are two breeds its really not a problem, and nothing to do with German Shepherds.  Try not to rile each other, as unity is still the only way we can go down this route.  If there isnt enough support, it just wont get through, and I am sure that you all know I am for this motion being carried through if at all possible, and it seems from the mails I have received so are others.

If we continue to refer to one of the typs as Alsatianists then I think we will have to be German Shepherdists - but if we start to make up our own language too  -  well  -  the mind boggles.    Mo

I will support all efforts to make the split, but i am not sure if it is possible the variations in registration criteria are wide ranging and very complicated.
BUT to take a long term view we could make the split, if we INSIST on one of our WUSV Member clubs becoming a BREED SPECIFIC SOCIETY based on the European system, put in a registration system to run alongside the KC one much like the Border Collie Society giving dual registration, begin the system in the European critera of health both mental and physical on an increasing basis say 5 years to full compliance to the European system, this would effectively SPLIT the breed, the new society would do breed surveys and SHOWS outside of the KC system with the specticle being a SEIGER SHOW, IT WOULD BE SLOW AND LONG but this way those that wanted could play both sides ie the KC and The New Society whithout fear of retribution or LOSS of earnings.
This was acheived in part by the old BSA who demonstrated it was possible.
I could not include the present leadership of the BAGSD in this as i beleive their WUSV Coordinator had knowledge (at least) in the changing of the standard but would obviously not admit to it during the hat changing.
If the above were to happen in 7/10 years time there would be an obvious split easily definable and we would have a Society BASED on OUR BREED THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG

The principal aim of the WUSV Working Group GB is to endeavour too follow the WUSV Constitution. To continually promote the German Shepherd Dog through the advancement and development of the breed.

the above statement is from the aims of the bagsd so i find it hard to accept that their co ordinator had any say in changing the standard but if he did then surely its time for their membership to move on

I trust many SV Judges and Officials, as well as WUSV Member Clubs around the World, will realise the Kennel Club here in the UK have CHANGED the GSD Breed Standard for the UK, without any discussion with the GSD Clubs, The GSD Breed Council,, and the TWO WUSV Member Clubs, BAGSD & The GSD League.

The two WUSV Member Clubs, who should support the SV Breed Standard have been SILENT on these changes. They need to issue a public statement condemning these unilateral changes to our GSD Breed Standard

It is crucial that the SV takes urgent steps to assert its authority and the authority of the WUSV regarding this serious matter.

I urge ALL SV members, around the World, to write and/or email the SV requesting they give this matter their urgent attention.

On behalf of all the people who have contacted me with regards to the New Proposed Breed Standard put forward by the UK Kennel Club I can assure you I will ask for this to be put on the Agenda at our next meeting. As an EC member of BAGSD  I am being asked how the we can accept any changes to the Breed Standard. This is the only information I can give you at this present time. Thank you for your concern over this issue.

When did this happen? The BC called for a meeting of Clubs on 24th Jan 09 to discuss and vote on these proposed changes of which some were rejected and additional WUSV descriptions added to the proposed changes, all the Clubs in attendance some 18 in total took votes on these and as far as I am aware these will be the recommendations put forward for the KC to adopt.
I agree there is only one real standard for the Breed, the FCI, WUSV standard which is used World wide, on the day I actually questioned why it is the British KC found it necessary to reword what we already had. I asked, "Why is it we are the only country in the world unable to understand a Standard without every so often feeling the need to keep rewriting it. What is it about the English word that we seem totally incapable of interpreting a Standard that the rest of the World have absolutely no problem with whatsoever? Are we Brits really that thick? One Breed, One Standard, its that simple, why insist on making it more complicated?"
Sorry to have digressed, so are we now being told that the KC have ignored the amendments made by the assembled Breed Clubs on Sat 24th Jan 09?
Regards
Sue

In answer to Sue B the reason for my post is the number of people who are BAGSD members contacting me personally and of course the fact that BAGSD are not members of the Breed Council which therefore excludes them from the vote taken at the recent meeting.
