Ok I admit this thread is way over my head

I wish you all the luck in trying to find a solution to this mess; my arguement is not "my dog is nicer than yours", my arguement is about breeders in general; the breeders who carry on breeding from the same stock without a care about the poor dogs and the trauma the owners go through seeing their beloved pets suffer !.

And this is a totally seperate debate

But a very good point to keep in the fore of every ones mind Georgehopwood - - I dont think this thread is over your head - we need everyone to be interested, and believe me everyone on this post has contributed in some way - its vitally important, keep looking and keep commenting, and thanks Paul.   Mo

to follow on from my post dated the 18th of jan, you talk about joe public on here, joe public requires a good looking healthy dog with an excellent temprement that could come from either side of the camp, wouldnt it be nice if joe public called us and specified his type, (which has happened to me in the past) that we could refer him into the right direction, because joe public nows  there are 2 different styles, we could then tell him were to go to get his choice, as it would be 2 different breeds as well end of confussion, and a begining of unity, the kc should never of allowed the german shepherd dog /alsatian  to have 2 names

The truth is the Alsatianists would not allow the name "Alsatian" to be removed, Leonard Pagliero saw to that. The Alsatianists KNOW they have a DIFFERENT breed to the German Shepherd Dog.

Thanks Mo/Liz

for making it clear what you both actually would like & yes we all have our own opinions but I personally do not see how a split in the Breed would help us get our own house in order.

david, omg I resigned from this thread once

you have always been honested with me In the past, can I have an honest answer please, someone close to me last night tried to explain this spilt.........I am listening and I will read what you reply proparly "what is a German Shepherd Dog, what makes the dog right to have the title "German Shepherd Dog what do you mean when you say Alsation"

why should one dog be classed the Alsation and another the German Shepherd Dog ? The reason I have asked David these question cos he knows I am just the pet owner, trying and I mean trying to understand my dog

My bum is really numb, my head hurts, my self assessment needs to be in tomorrow, but I am still reading this thread, and I want to understand, as an outsider looking and reading this thread, its like a childrens tit for tat playground fight.........my dads bigger than yours etc, sorry thats the best I could discribe it

george in effect there is no such breed as an alsatian this was a name given to the german shepherd dog by the KC just after world war 1 as it was thought that eveything german would be hated by the british it was originally the alsatian wolf dog they then dropped the wolf dog bit in case people thought it was crossed by a wolf they then called it the alsatian (german shepherd)  then reversed that to the name it has now german shepherd (alsatian) so as you can see the name alsatian is a made up name  the true name is german shepherd dog as it is know the world over
