My tuppence worth would be a seperate registration system run by an organisation based on the Europen system, with dual registration included in that system, registration would be on a two tier system, with an increase in criteria to the higher tier, with both health and working being valued in the criteria, that way the alsations will dy from the system and eventually the breed will split, it will take time and effort and for a while some of the bigger breeders will be frightened of the KC implcations, there is no reason why that Assoc could not have say 5 regional shows per year outside of the KC system with gun tests of lead gaiting etc, remember we are a FREE country

Like you idea regarding adding something to the BC agenda for their AGM - BUT  it would make a great idea if ALL the clubs who are members of the Breed Council be informed/invited in the first palce so as to allow them their say and their vote. Or is it the staus quo that if you miss a few meetings out of sight out of mind?

How please?

Not sure the BC is the way to go they have been ineffective for years and carry no international recognition, it is the GSDL and BAGSD that we have to move but the present leadership of the BAGSD have more interest in maintaining their expense paid trips with fancy buffets to Clarges St Than protecting the physical and mental well being of our breed

Reason, re the fancy buffets and not only trips to Clarges St, you have woken up and smelt the coffee. The BC may not have intenational recognition but it is the only body that involves the rest of the Breed Clubs who dont get those invites and all expenses paid trips to la la land.

Sophie, I know your angry, I'm sure the message will have got through, but please dont shout at me, I was but the messenger.

George - so glad you are a member of a breed club, they need people like you who dont necessarily exhibit, breed, own a stud dog etc but simply just care about the breed. More power to your elbow, I do hope if the vote comes that all people like yourself get the chance to have your say. Always have, Always will be a defender of fair play and Democracy.

Liz - Ally,

Let me spell out what I mean by Take the Vote..... it means informing everyone we all collectively know, and acknowledge in both sides of the types. Alsatians and GSDs.   There have been some very good comments again above, and Sue B has pointed the way to get to almost the entire population through clubs etc on the breed and working side... they matter too if they want to matter in this debate, and as for Joe Public, if he/she wants to express an opinion, then so be it - after consideration of which way people wish to go - then representation could be made, or not made in the correct polite manner.

Sue, hope you wont be offended by this, and I dont mean it to cause offence, but I am hell bent on not making fish of one and foul of another, and needing us all to be totally neutral - so i perhaps think the word "Alsatianists" sounds a bit derogatory... like German Shepherists.... perhaps I`m being a bit over sensitive, but people who also favour Alsatians must be seen to be fairly trreated too - I got into a bit of bother for spelling it wrong whilst typing earlier on in the threads, and why not - because if Line-dancer had been trying to conduct a fair appeal to all and called my type German Shepards I would have been a bit miffed that she had not taken the care either, so Alsatianists out, Alsatian breeders in perhaps - picky but important for peoples feelings if we aare all to unite here to get two breeds.

Reason has the  utopia suggestion, but I think I may not live that long to see it happen !!   Our of tiny acorns, mighty oaks grow - lets start somewhere.   I am about to put pen to paper to John LcLain and to Brian Wootton after all, we dont even know if they agree to the proposal, let alone steer their own group.....   let ya know.    Mo

Sue

You should note i was referring to the BAGSD leadership and the trips!

Ally - no slanging match from these quarters, you have your opinions I have mine  - it is my belief that to get our house in order which I absolutely agree with you on,  is probably going to take a split as there are certainly two arguements for what the 'Shepherd Dog' that we currently have is- we'll agree to disagree!!!?

Mo/Penny - Thanks for clearing that up and at least attempting to act upon the issues regardless of what side you sit on!.
