It's sad that there are so many BYB's out there, who think they can breed to make money. Any reputable breeder is well aware there is no money to be made in breeding. IMO, Hannah should ship this male back and just walk away from breeding!

Gosh, this is sad for the dog.  I hope the boy finds a good home soon.  So sad for the breeders.  Why not return him, so he can be where he belongs eventually?  I feel the welfare of the dog should go foremost and everything else comes many steps thereafter.

You can kill ALL of the sperm a dog has by changing the temperature of his testicles only two degrees!  So an overly hot bath, a hot blow dryer, laying on cold concrete, or even cold ground can do  this.  Once all the sperm are killed it can take 3+ months to regenerate.....  If any of those things are regular habit and you keep doing them (or other similar things), it would be no surprise if the dog ever has sperm, or a very low count.  There are other more technical things that kill sperm, but those are the most common ones that people do not think about.

You can never guarantee a dog, will EVER reproduce.  Tests or not.  Things happen.

When I was in college, I took physical anthropology with a female professor who seemed obsessed with studies of (human) male fertility showing reduced fertility in men who took long, hot baths.  As I am male, and she was quite frankly attractive, I didn't mind the image of her running around doing these experiments (and wondered if she was ever going to get around to ask for volunteers).  Never did I think that all these years later the same topic would come up with respect to my beloved dogs.
