Geeze, I don't want to sound like a jerk, but... Here's the thing. I had people tell me for ages my bitch was too thin. I read the thing about the last two ribs and figured-German Showline and can see the last two ribs. Propably just right.  But, she wasn't. She had EPI.  So, if the vet says a few more pounds should be good and the vet knows about GSDs that aren't grossly overweight, then thank goodness.  But, just keep in mind what people have said about things along WITH the two rib rule.  I didn't know to check the muscle mass as well as ribs. And like SS says the ribs when in an extended trot. I thought it meant all the time.  Also, the backbone shouldn't be exceedingly higher than the muscle that runs on either side of it. I assujed with mine it had to do with the showline topline. God I'm an idiot.  I'm not trying to be the horn of destruction and I hope you never have a problem.  I guess I'm paranoid of the problem and have a reflexive panic attack when anyone says skinny GSD.

Don't mind me, it's time for my meds. :0
