Birdy, What do you feed your dogs? I just don't know what to do any more. I don't cook for myself, I ate to cook, I don't know about the raw diet either. So many things to think about. This is so upsetting. Betsy

So is this affecting Sensible Choice guys? Get a Real Dog has been making fun of me for showing such concern to this dog food issue and his pup is eating SC Chicken meal and Rice right now! Yes I may be changing my dogs food with every bag but at least I'm making sure I'm not poisoning him. I said no way to RC products a few months back with the first issues. I agree that if one line of food form a manufacturer is bad, I dump the whole damn line of their products. I'm not taking chances!

I just got a reply from Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul veternarian, a Dr Janet Rettenmaier who states that "we do not import any ingredients from China...We buy all our ingreients from US companies..." Additionally there are requesting letters of origin for each ingredient they use... It sounds safer and you all make the choice from there, for me I will never use anything RC makes again...Premium my a*s premium price maybe...Same goes for Natural Balance... Timberwolf anyone...??? Solid Gold and Canine Caviar are two other brands that posted tehy use no ingrediants from China and have strict controls in place. We have one on Natural Balance Duck and Potato, I think she will try something else like Vension and split pea from Canine Caviar. The rest are on Lamb and Millet Canine Caviar.

You know Rob, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't right now. A couple of weeks ago I started to substitute 1/2 the amt of dry food I feed one of my dogs with another brand. Instead of 4 cups daily of Newman's Own Organic Chicken & Rice, I now give 2 cups of Newman's and 2 cups of Timberwolf's Wild and Natural. He's doing well on it. (I also use Hundenflocken by SG) I use fresh meat--buy sirloins and divide into portions, then freeze. But---what have the cows been eating??? Bell and Evans chicken is a biggie with me--antibiotic free, etc... But---what have the hens been eating??? Fresh veggies......??? Right now, I'm checking out that extra piece of paper in my Sentinnel CHEWABLE (heartworm med)box. There's so much info, but of course, no mention of the ingredients that make it CHEWABLE. Two weeks ago, I was checking out the meat grinders. When this first started, my initial thought was that this was just one big conspiracy---the BIG people had an agenda---make the US go into isolationism by scaring the public not to import--even to the extent of killing some dogs and cats. I just don't know anymore. Our dogs and us humans have probably been eating this garbage for years. (Anyone else find it somewhat hard to believe that the 'authorities' didn't know----and , now that they do know---not much mentioned in news?)

Oh yeah they have known, but now that it's out, they have to seem cautious and like they are doing something about it.

I'm reading my post and just noticed --Newman's Own Organic Chicken & RICE. Isn't there something about rice protein being questioned?? Here I go again...more research.

Imported rice gluten from China has been found to be contaminated also.

You are so right, LHM. I've read that this grain was actually grown in the US and shipped to China for processing due to a lower cost thus higher profits for the manufacturers. Not sure yet if that's a fact. Hard to believe it would be cheaper to pay for roundtrip shipping to China plus the processing fees and don't forget the taste that goes to the middle man. Duh.............. I think we need to be careful about taking everything we hear from the manfacturers verbatim. In theory, they could truthfully say - all our grain is grown in the US while it still may have been processed in China. Maybe this will raise public awareness of what a mess we have allowed politicians to make of our great country. We have allowed the foxes to guard the hen houses for too many years. We sure are the cash cows for most of the world, and it's even more discerning to think that China is a communist country with no human rights to speak of yet still profiting from the fruits of our labors. What have we done?
