Look it up yourself, HD. The fact that you didn't deny it.....???? I'm probably correct. Truthfully, the two of you....Keith and yourself, that is..... make me want to puke. The inference that I'm a cop hater is downright disgusting. You sti k. Fill in the missing letter, yourself.
I'll answer your question, Keith. Do I think you care........no. Do I even think you think.......no. Anyway, here goes.
No dog should be thrown to the wolves........as in THIS case.
A dog in pursuit to knock down a fleeing suspect at least has a fairer chance.
A dog aiding a policeman in actual combat with suspect....... yes.
A dog sent in to test the waters.......no.
Truthfully, with the opinions of you and HD, I'd only want K9s for doing Search and Rescues, drug detections, crowd control....etc. Too many BS deaths......sick of them.

Thank you for your kind words LMH, I would offer to hold your forehead while you puked because of the likes of Keith and myself, but, I am afraid you would not like that. I have no reason nor desire to go search for some thread, I post and move on. I cannot deny anything that I dont remember, but, I cant verify it either.
Looking at your list of your "dream deployments", I feel the need to correct you...
Dogs are not thrown to any wolves, they are simply used for their talents which they were bred, selected and trained for.
A dog APPREHENDS a fleeing suspect, that means it bites him and during that time, a lot can happen...
A dog aiding a handler during combat with a suspect is a good notion, however, for some dogs, the handler is just in the way and it also means that other officers cannot jump in and help out the officer...you know, minor little details, as long as the dog is good and in the back of the car, away from any danger...
Dogs are sent in to test the waters all the time, they even have little cameras on them now so the rest of the "gang" sitting safely outside can see what the dog sees and the handler can remotely guide the dog...amazing, wouldnt you say LMH?
Lastly, we are lucky that the deployments of WORKING dogs, be it police or military are not dependant on you...you should have just said that you were a panty waisted tree hugger LMH, we could have just left it at that, but...
Ops, one more thing, I see the "family and children" thing did nothing for you when I mentioned it as my first responsibility, I wonder why. Oh, I also do not enjoy "word games"...if you feel the need to express yourself, please, do it. Again, have a great day.

Oh, for crying out loud. What a couple of knuckleheads. I just got back from the supermarket......after digging out my car from the snowstorm.....to read this bunk. This will be a short reply.....and my final one......even knowing you'll post just about anything to have the last word.
YOU GOT ME, HD. I'll just lay down and die now........like the K9. Huh?
"panty waisted tree hugger" Huh?
"family and children" Huh?
Oh.....and the only thing I find amazing, HD, is that I'm still posting. Clearly, we are totally opposites. (LOL)

Snowstorm you say, I am sitting here by the water, working with my dog, its almost 80, a nice cool breeze blowing, not a cloud in the sky...sorry about digging out your car...
Now, let me ask you, why is Keith a knucklehead, he has said nothing here, are you being paranoid dear?
If you wish to lay down and die, unlike that dog that was not laying down, well, its your choice as you said.
I have noticed your favorite word is "huh" which is either a sign of ignorance or English was not your best subject in school, you pick.
You like posting, its a way for you to express your passive-aggressive notions and yes, indeed we are very clearly opposite in our views of dogs and work.

I'm a knucklehead because I think it is a far crueler fate for a working dog to end up as yard art than to be out doing a job.

If all you have is a hammer then everything looks like a nail!! The dog should have called for backup?? Nobody said cops are smart and if I was his handler I would not have sent my dog into such a situation without reason. If the cops knew where the "suspect" was they should have gone in behind the dog. And if they did not know he had a gun or weapon why did they not just go in and drag him out themselves. The dog lost his life because he was not properly handled. If there is an armed or unarmed "suspect" in, under, or on top of a building and you send your dog then you had best be right behind him. If it is too dangerous for the officer(s) to go in behind the dog then it is too dangerous for the dog to go alone.
