As for the earset, they look their best in 1st and 2nd pictures. Do you consider her black tan or bi-color?

I consider her bi color.  Her ear set could definitely be better, but she's not horribly bat earred, and obviously she can pull them up nicely :)

GSDLineage, I have also noticed the great resemblance of Wesson to her great grandfather!  There is one headshot of her in particular that this REALLY stood out to me!  Let me find it for you!

ETA: When I took this picture and got it on my computer at home, my IMMEDIATE reaction was "Holy crap!  She looks like Boss!"

Jenni, in regards to your coments, you are not wrong.  AmLines tend towards narrower heads (muzzles mostly, though they've been getting better, and Wesson's head is VERY "West Coast" in style).  Our standard also calls for a longer dog than the SV standard does, but regardless of either, Wesson is a tad long through the back (which Ibrahim mentioned).  I would still like a stronger underjaw on this bitch, but it is still better than many ladies I have seen.

What you said about her ear set is also correct, and it is a feature of her I am not a fan of.  That said, at least she is not truly bat eared.  I have seen GSD bitches with Corgi ears, or ears COMPLETELY on the sides of their heads (EWWWWW!!!!!).  I am hoping to correct that set with the breedings I am doing with her.  Hoping to correct ear size a bit as well, but set is more important to me.  Her ears are hilariously huge :p  I like their shape, though.  Her mother has oddly shaped ears that I'm glad she didn't inherit.

Jyl, I apologize for not answering your question!  Didn't see it!  I am hoping she finishes this Sunday.  All she needs is a major, and they have been VERY hard to find.  It is RIGHT on the major on Sunday, so everybody has to show up, or it's a no go :(  Her next chance at a major would be next month, but she may be in whelp then.  If that is the case, she'll be finished after the litter, and she'll be back on sheep, hopefully get her HT and PT (and CH if she doesn't have it), get her bred again (maybe...may wait longer), and after that probably spay her and continue on with her performance career.  She'll be finished before she's spayed, regardless.

Just so you can see ear set on another American bitch.  This is Mirada (who now lives with a good friend of mine).  LOVED her ears.  Stupidly huge, but BEAUTIFUL set!  Tiny bitch at just 22.25"  Stunning pigment as well.  She has an overly refined and snipey head that many AmLine people liked.  I will say that her head was very "cute" and she definitely gave off the vibe of feminine, but her head wasn't *strong*.  I want a strong head as much as I want a feminine head.

In AmLine circles, Wesson is considered doggy.  I don't necessarily agree, but I can see how they'd think that (especially when you look at her head next to Boss's).  I do not prefer the west coast style of dog, but that is how she turned out.  I'm going for a dog that is ultimately more Midwestern/East coast in appearance.  Lower on leg, more substance, shorter coupled, shorter muzzle.

Stylistically, I'm going for a larger sized version of Mirada (with a better head and pasterns).

Miranda's Picture is the perfect spring time season image! Nice ears/eyes & head too.

It is actually very hard for Bi-Colors. It is the least looked for of the colors. You will see Solid Black/ dark red sable/ black/tan saddle and even blanket dogs more advertised and campaigned worldwide. Some judges (Especially SV or International style) will call in a wrong and atypical color/pattern.

On the other hand with the bi-colors and blacks they tend to look flat (2-dimentional), saddles make the middlepiece of the dog look smaller in relation to the rear and front.

The US has had a great number of Bi-Color GVs, The Boss dog was one that really put a show on when he went US Grand Victor. He won on his gait (reach/stride/extenssion/follow through) and straight hard back in my memory. His handler Jerry Guzman took him on a really loose lead and the dog put on a spectacular show strutting 20 feet ahead of his handler.

I think the only way to get stronger jaws with ASL is to start working them in bitework of some sort and making some selection in that direction. You will see some sheep work done, but Obedience and bitework are rare. Many people (Me included have a dog at some point that we have never tested or trained bite wise).

I think it is wrong to measure the jaw strength by looks.

Here I leave you with some Chinese wolf dog picture I have collected because of their very interesting ears. In my readings I found they don't yet have extensive pedigrees available on many of them, but they breed dogs that look like each other to each other (type to type) and that is how they have developed their breeds. I think they are keeping it secret from their competitors as well.

I'm not crazy about lower stationed dogs, but Mirada's color is what did well in the AKC all breed rings the times I looked.

The major broke on Sunday D: Super sucky, but couldn't be helped. One of the bitches entered had to have an emergency spay. Trying again later this month in West Virginia.
