Shtal, how dare you!  Our humanity is our morality, not a morass of evil and demons.  It is wrong to lie because it causes suffering to other human beings, it's really pretty simple.  Evolution has given us our morality, because without it, we would not have survived. 

And therein lies the rub, Shtal.  Your religion does not stop bad people from doing bad things, but it sure does mess up good people, who otherwise wouldn't do bad things, yet do.

If you want to talk about walking the walk, look at the numbers in the prison population who are considered "violent offenders" and tell me which worldview they hold, by majority.  What percentage of Christians, muslims, etc. (in other words, the religious population) comprise the general population, as opposed to those who hold no religious views?  Compare that to the prison population and I think you've got a big problem.

I will give you example: If you consider yourself as being evolutionist and you are outraged at seeing a violent / murder on TV, you may say how can those be like this? That is terrible; it is wrong, if you are evolutionist why should you be angry, in your world view that is one chemical accident getting rid-off another chemical accident, what’s the problem? You wouldn’t get angry at baking soda with reacting to vinegar, that’s what chemicals do, right? This is a behavioral inconsistency. And btw, chemicals don’t have a choice, if the people kill, just a chemical accident, it just outworking chemistry – why would you punish? You wouldn’t punish baking soda with reacting to vinegar, it just what it does…You wouldn’t throw Lion in jail for killing antelope, right? Animals killed animals what’s the big deal. So the fact you are angry, is your behavior inconstancy. It shows in heart of hearts that you know Biblical God; you do know that murder is wrong.

Shtal, I could be wrong, but I believe that some of the disconnect in the conversation between you and non-faith oriented members here is that while they can choose to either respect that you believe in creation and God in general or not, presenting Hovind and Ham constitutes engaging in the argument in a way that forwards those beliefs as fact. It is not possible, even according to the scriptures. It makes sense to me that you and other believers would take what Ham is selling for instance, and fill in the gaps with a leap of faith, things which cannot be proven. In a sense, these clowns sort of diminish the idea of faith. FWIW, and IMO, both Hovind and Ham are idiots. I see no reason to justify my faith to anyone. I can say that if I did, and if I chose to do so within the framework of science, I would understand that it would be incumbent upon me to adhere to that framework if I expected to be at all taken seriously. Science has a language of sorts, and scientists can become necessarily ambivalent when the deliberation begins to get sloppy.

Carlin, you do have some merit points here but let me tell you something when I was in school evolutionist's also forward there beliefs as fact that man evolved over millions of years.

You won't find any argument from me as to the latent effects of public education and its curriculum in terms of its unintended materialist (I'm being generous) influence upon children.

actually religion is the main justification for bad people to do bad things, do you know nothing of history, about evey indinous culture has been wiped out based on religous justifications, the crusades - relligous, apartheid in SA was preached in church and justified by scripture, shtal would call a horse a rabbit if it suited him.

one of the most overwhelming compulsions for me to believe in evolution is that we act morally, if we didn't the species would not survive, so morals are an intinsic part of our evolution if you like, they give the species as a whole a survival advantage.

shtal you have to stop reading middle school science books, if you can. can you post the titles of the "secular texts" you read. you are consistently wrong about everything. middleschool science is a simple way to try and explain complex things, why don't you go to the proffesional literature? refute the current work going on, if you can.

there is so much you are wilfully ignorant of, you have no authority from your sources and are incapable of comeing up with a single thought of your own, do the honourable thing and stop discgracing religion and yourself.

Shtal, do you understand that the Bible is only valid to Christians?  Do you get that?  You are supposed to follow your Bible, not enforce it!
