4pack, Blitz doesn't get on the couch anymore, not sure why. But there is plenty of hair everywhere else.

My show girl is the only permanent house fixture here and she can't get on the couch or just doesn't want to. The little boy dives onto the couch first thing and tries to bite anything that looks like a tug or bite pillow. Tonight, took him through Home Depot and he wanted to grip the florescent lights I bought. Sooo not good! I couldn't blame him, the package did look like a long tug toy. I just had my daughter walk ahead with them.
The rescues have been inside, off and on for years and they know the no couch policy here. However my daughters dog was allowed on becasue of her broken leg when we accuired her. She can be bribed onto the couch. Damn kids...lol. My male wont do it, no way no how.

Funkman, sounds like you built a nice kennel. What is the name of your kennel, where is it located and do you have any GSDs for sale?

We have 6 GSD's, all working lines. 15 months to 6 years old. 1 police certified k9 w/ BH, 1 sch 2, 2 w/ BH's (both ready for the sch1).
We keep one dog as the house dog. SHe sleeps where ever she wants. Sometimes we have to go looking for her in the house. One day I found her upstairs sleeping on our bed. Our basement is finshed with a tile floor and the others take turns getting house time with us down there. We finished the rest of the house with tile or hardwood floors for easier clean up.
We have an 8 ft x 18 ft. section of the basement next to the finished part with outside access via bilco doors. We purchased stall doors for minature horses for our indoor 3 x 4 kennels. During the day the dogs are turned out into 5 x 10 runs that are on composite decking. We keep the runs in pairs spread thru out the property to cut down on barking. The kennels have privacy panels to eliminate fence fighting. We turn the dogs in at night because they bark at things that go bump in the night.

I have 3 German showline dogs. My oldest is 9 years and came to me out of rescue at two years of age. I think she and I have a particularly good understanding of one another since I spent alot of time trying to figure her out and train her. My male I raised from a puppy and although I did not wind up titling him, I did do all the imprinting and discovered his natural herding instinct which we wound up pursuing. My youngest is a female I purchased at 18 months in Germany and had her titled there and then imported. She is going to turn 3 in March. I had a litter and would have loved to have kept a puppy out of it but I discovered that I was beginning to show signs of being a dog collector. LOL.
All of my dogs are housedogs. I try to integrate them into my life as much as possible.

I have 2 male working line GSD and 1 Mali female. I have kennels in my garage(heated) that lead to 6x6x12 kennels on cedar decking. The doggie doors are locked at night due to the woodland creatures that roam the backyard. I crate all my puppies indoors at night until they are 6-7 months old. Puppies are socialized in the house with the family at my pleasure. Each night when we get home from work all 3 dogs are allowed in the house together for about an hour. We track 3-5 times a week. Obedience is everyday and bitework is 3 days a week.

I have 4 dogs 2 little terriers and 2 Shepherds. My female is 3. Raised in the house with structure first and love second...which is a great plan until you love them too much. Obedience at top level and agility. She spent 2 days a week at "puppy daycare" to socialize her. She is a wonderful well rounded family dog but can be a bit difficult if you allow it. She was spayed at 2. My male is tough as nails, again obedience and agility with daycare. He is not neutered yet but is scheduled for March. You can see some of his littermates and breeder at www.archangelgermanshepherds.com he is from the V litter. He is attached at the hip but well trained and always willing to please. They are currently working for me, in many capacities No titles.....that anyone would recognize except I have given them the title of "the Greatest" thing in my life beside my hubby.

We have 6 adult German Shepherds, a new male pup coming in May. A Jack Russell and 2 cats.. 40 chickens, 2 lambs, and maybe a pig later this summer.
2 Kids (4 and 7)
Winter,
All the dogs sleep in the house, Younger ones in Crates, Older ones loose in the Dog Section of the House, our basement, where we also sleep. Office downstairs too, Both hubby and I have home offices.
Summer,
The young ones move outside to the kennels, we also use them when the older girls need to be seperated when not being bred or they are being brats and need the fresh air, or to drive the neighbours crazy when they burn trash and my laundry is on the line. All 6 outside can get a little noisy, especially if they let their dog out and it roams over to pee next to our runs.
No couches for them, but futon mattresses doubled over and dog beds abound. Pups born in our room, my walk in closet is now the whelping room.
The Kids, cats and Jack Russell are upstairs.. Less Accidents that way, some of the girls do not get along. We play musical dogs, out into the 40 x 60 yard out of a back window with ramp.
The kennels have indoor and outdoor runs 4 X 10 each with a 24 x 30 yard.. The kennel is a 10x12 shed insulated, plastic siding and steel on the kennel side, we also have 2 isolation pens 12 ft high fence with barbed wire, 12x12 for visiting escape artists. Grooming Shop 16x18 with hot water, tub, dryers, table and a couple crates inside.
We are building the "Dream Kennel" within the next 5 years. All money from breedings goes back into kennel for improvements. Dogs bought the new land last year, 13 acreas across the road from where we live now..
We show in Obedience, Tracking and have just recently joined a new Schutzhund Club in another Province, travel up with one of the dogs every month, and for fun we mess with Agility, plan is to buy a flock of sheep once the kennel is built and dabble in herding. I love the breed and am constantly amazed by how much they can learn. They take turns going on field trips with my hubby when he works away, and get to go 2 at a time on Beach Trips during the summer, I can only handle so much sand...
All dogs are in various stages of training except the Jack Russell, who just looks cute and is going into Conformation this spring now that CKC recognizes them.
In the process of deciding what material to build new house and kennels out of.. Thinking of SolarCrete anyone have experience with it?
Overall I hope we are doing the best we can by our dogs, they seem happy, granted they don't wear diamond encrusted necklaces. But so far they all run to get back in the truck after training.. so it can't be that bad. Constantly learning and eager to preserve and hopefully mabey, slowly, improve on what is already a fantastic breed. The German Shepherd Dog.
