One day his son Austin, ran into the garage and before I could say NINE he jumped into my truck thru the window on drivers side.,Of course I had a harse correction for that...but he saw Gator his dad do it so I guess lIke Father like son or vice versa,,
Do not try that kind of training..I worked with LEO's and we trained three of mine to do lots of things most people do not...I did building searchs, lots of agitations from my vehicle since I traveled all over USA with my dogs in tow or in truck for my protection and for my second job I undertook.
Training is so much fun but hard work but the end result lives in your memory..
Good Luck

that leads to an interesting side discussion ie; and the dog can not get to the bad guy should you need him to if he is in a crate.
a dilemma?
...YR, the windows were 1/2 up, if the decoy approached that side of the vehicle the dog would have launched no prob, dog was still very much a pup at that time as well.

If you have a dog with you for protection. You can have a quick release coupler in vehicle to minimize that and at your need would be just as quick as pulling a weapon,,
I always have a leash, called a handle, or quick release on any dog in the vehicle as you need complete control of your dog no matter how well trained..A police man has a triggered device with him if he needs his dog and he can open and release his dog at any time but he and dog are trained companions for this kind of maneuvered action something we do not need, The gsd has a special bond with a LEO , and is expected to be ready for or without a command in some cases..We do not train that way as we just have a gsd for our warding off of criminals or someone who would do harm > THe site of one of our dogs with mouth wide open is enough to have them leave your vehicle and you alone..
Most people would not approach a vehicle with a trained gsd in it ,if it alerts..gives you time to get dog loose .if needed.THE object is to dial 911 for legal help

Keep up the good work and keep watching and learning your dog. HE will tell you lots if you learn his reaction times. Your trainer , hopefully can explain that one...lol

sus not so weird, i think us adults have created something that makes it hard for many kids to distinguish between the real and virtual world, scarey but not so weird imo.

Good decision. The dog wants to work and shows he can work. The dog just needs to learn the rules. He needs to be what is called clear in the head. Not out of his mind and allowed to go ballistic and non-thinking. Practicing OB under distraction is great for this.
