I was off this site for 4 months. Did admin things and didn't post to threads, even my admin time was very limited. I was extremely busy this past summer and was not here. The site didn't improve. The only way this site will ever improve is for the members to suddenly learn to tolerate each other even when others have differing opinions, beliefs and experiences.

I am not blaming Slamdunc for anything but his words. He as far as I know is not behind any of the arguing going on. Matter of fact I think Slamdunc has been doing a great job of dishing out his blunt commentary on the threads he posts on.

And no we don't hold OT to the same standards of the other forums. That is why OT is not supposed to show up in outside searches, profiles or hot topics.


And whatever the hot new rumor of the week is, just remember you are only hearing part of the story.

No, that is not what is needed to get the site to improve.  It is simply a symptom of the overall problem.  You can imply all you want in your snarky posts, but you can not blame me for anything in regards to the issues with this site.  The only thing you can say is that I, along with many others, don't contribute as much as I used too.    You are correct, I most certainly would not be the one to blame for what has happened to this site.  I couldn't be bothered to be behind or involved in any of the nonsense or bickering.   The question really should be "What can be done to make the site better?"  Or "How can we get back to when this site was a fun, popular, really good resource for dog owners?"  Or "Why don't the serious trainers, competitors, show, and working dog people post here any longer or rarely post at all?"  "Why are there fewer and fewer really good training posts now than say 2 or 3 years ago?"

As long as we are offering suggestions here, a good one may be for a mod to not send a member a  PM warning them of an impending ban and then block that person from offering a response in their defense. Should a mod block members?

There was a response to the first PM and members asked to be notified of bans, now we need to give them an opportunity to argue the point further. No, that will not work.


I copied part of your post because it dealt with the issue, there was no snarky comment. What I was trying to ask is who are the main arguers. What group of people, what person. You take it how you want. There was no snarky comment intended unless you were looking for one. And I think a lot of people who use this site share some of the blame in all of what has happened. At one time you all defended me to the hilt and what has changed? Someone told you all I was an admin. Sorry I was picked, sorry I had to try and get things under some form of control because as you have stated plenty of times in the past this site was out of control, a zoo a rat hole and numerous other digs to this site. Go ahead blame me but in all actuality plenty of other admins were partially to blame for parts of what has happened over time. I accept my part in a lot of it but it was in no way all me. Why do you think we have gone through all these admins? If only you all knew all the truth and who all the admins really have been. This site was bad 3 - 4 years ago long before I came back. Sure there was more posts as it had become known as the drama site and now you are telling me that drama is wanted again?

3 years ago - lol, you even said back then that this site was gone but now you are saying it was better back then? Oh boy. Hell, Blitzen left here for the longest time because the site had slipped into the hell hole.

Sorry, you all miss your drama and the way the site was 3 + years ago. I surely don't miss the racism and all of what some  members brought to the site back then.
 

I never got a chance to respond to my internet paddling, admin. I was blocked before I could respond. It was not YOU who blocked me.

The blatant racism was why I stayed away for years.

Things evolve and things change. We are now trying to give members a reason for the banning. If you are banned you will get a PM (most members) and the reason is put right on the site so when you try and log in you will see the main reason/s you are banned.

To revisit this, IMO a big reason for the drop off in responses here and the lack of various topics is:

1. Few serious GSL people post here anymore. Dog1, Sita's Mom, Ruger1, to name a few who still do. I'll let you figure out why. They have their own forums where they can talk about their dogs without getting shot down and told they are garbage and ruining the breed.

2. As far as I know, only 2 owners of ASL's post here, Xeph and myself. When I ask my ASL  friends why, the response is usually - are you kidding me, they HATE us and our dogs there and they are hateful about it. The ASL people have their own forums too.

Re the off topic forum I guess the rule of thumb is anything goes - religion. politics, anything. I think tempers flare here more than any of the other forums simply because some enjoy a good argument, are bullies who live to belittle others, are religious zealots, or just get a kick out of dumping on others.
