Collecting (assuming that's what you mean by "breeding from the hand") will not ruin a sexually healthy male.  My male was collected several times before he ever bred naturally and it didn't matter (he was collected to first check sperm count and motility before being considered a breeding prospect, and then for a few AIs due to distance).  Last breeding he had was a maiden bitch.  They got two long ties with little effort, she is confirmed pregnant.

Hans has a good point. I don't think it applies here to the OP's dog, but it's a good point, nonetheless.

Just a funny story- PG-13 if not R rated, but funny nonetheless. I just talked to a guy from Europe, a stud owner, who was asking if my bitch would stand. I said I assume so, and if not, I won't breed her, period. He told me all should be well because his male needed no assistance because he doesn't ever help them, unlike his friend he mentioned, who he referred to as "Hand Job Bob," who helps guide every male he has.  I LOL'd at that comment. He said I shouldn't laugh because a lot of dogs have had owners like that and they won't tie by themselves now. I have certainly heard of it, but never actually witnessed it.

Not all dogs are equally active sexually. And not every sexual act  with them is the same.Haves  is a difference in the size of the genital genitals ,There is a difference in the position and posture and many other factors who are unable to become breeding normally. Then you have to help a person. This is not a criterion that dogs are not healthy or have genetic problems or need to change a line.

and you said you had to help the next gen to breed as well I believe? Not good to produce dogs with no wish to breed naturally, sorry to disagree.

You can breed anything if YOU try hard enough.
That doesn't make it a sound method for strong genetics.

I have witnessed what Hans is talking about and it does happen. My suspicion is that is is more likely to happen when someone does not allow the dog to mount the bitch for collection. The dog stands on the ground, all four feet, and he gets used to someone like "Hand Job Bob" always doing the work. I haven't seen the problem enough to know if my theory is correct or not, but this is just my educated guess.

The natural way is the bitch chooses the alpha dog from  ten male dogs.I cant find ten pedigree dogs to be female dog able to choose. And when I say help only direction. Not all help.
