Well, I just got the results this morning. Let’s just say that when I do something, I definitely do not go half way.
I am being referred to an orthopedic surgeon to see what can be done to repair this damage.
- My clavicle (shoulder blade) is rubbing against the bone behind it (collar bone, I think). It is not crushed though.
- The tendons around this area are torn, but not ruptured.
- The thingies (I do not remember the name) that holds the shoulder together is leaking fluid. This is likely caused by rotator cuff damage and tendons being torn also.

Sometimes the surgery can make things worse; give it time and try to rehab it back as best you can; believe me I know how painful shoulders can be but they are also extremely important and ortho guys think they are god. Knowing full well that after surgery your shoulder will never be the same. Sooooo, caution. Nan

That is what I am reading about on line. I have a 2nd doc lined up for a 2nd opinion. I really hope surgery is not the only option, but right now I just want the use of my arm back and to get a solid night's sleep.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Fawn,
You poor thing. Did the cortisone shot help at all, from the 2nd Dr.? I've been reading on this, as I am sure you have, too. I think you need a third opinion.

Did you have an injury with sudden pain, or was it gradual, the onset of pain?

Shot seems to be helping. Honestly, I vaguely remember the pain starting in April. The 2nd doctor says that I probably strained the muscles (which is very possible). If the 1st doctor had said that back in May, all would be well. Instead, they said I had torn tendons....thus I needed to let them heal; resulting in the frozen shoulder.
Just a pain and another reason to skip doctors unless I am on my death bed.
The frozen shoulder is better news in that we can do agility. I just need to suck it up if my shoulder hurts during training.

How did the first Dr. decide it was a tear? How did the second Dr. decide it was frozen?
