There are 195 progeny listed on this sight. There are also a large number of 2nd generation pictures. This IS a stud and a half.
but how many litters have been born since he's been in this country? How many puppies per litter? How many females bred to him that did not have litters? Those are the questions that need to be answered before stud fee is paid and shipping fees paid, deposits taken and etc. It would be very hard to believe that Wayne Curry didn't breed ANY of his many females to Olex while he owned him - no puppies?
molly
What are you inferring Molly? Has this dog gone instantly infertile? Is it in the water? Is he too old to breed at 8 1/2? How would the number of puppies per litter be affected by the male? A litter on the ground as of 12/24/06, is not recent enough? Your trying to communicate something to us.
Come on Molly, share your inside information?
see my previous post. As a breeder, if I were going to use this stud dog, I would make certain for myself that he A) had recently sired a normal-sized litter; B) there is at least one female confirmed pregnant with a normal-sized litter sired by him, or C) had a semen evaluation done very recently by a repro vet. I'm saying there have apparently been many females bred to him that were not pregnant, and two litters so far in this country - 3 pups total. Not good enough for my stud fee and expenses in breeding my females, for any stud dog with this history. I too think he's a fantastic dog and would definately be interested in using him, if he produced puppies. I hope he does, I hope he is not "finished".
I have no inside information - other than obvious facts - Curry had him for how many months, bred him to how many females, and no puppies. Since then, he's been bred to how many females, and has produced next to no puppies.
Perhaps Karla's female will produce an excellent large litter, and that would be great news indeed.
molly
Perhaps she is asking logical question that most should ask about a stud dog. Especially with Olex's age and cryptic information regarding the actual breedings and results from his breeding.
Of course like Olex and Nick any other stud there will be rumors but most of us know Olex has proven himself both on and off the field but the question now is if he has produced since he's been here and the actual numbers.
When you invest in these stud fees, you really should know this information.
This will prevent situations like a "very special friend" of ours in Alabama who has deceived a few people with their stud dog.
I have a litter of six from a stud in Alabama out of my 6 1/2 year old bitch. I plan to send her back for another wonderful litter and to keep one for myself.
Veronica
What's that got to do with the price of milk? LOL
It may be as germane to the conversation as your statement.
"This will prevent situations like a "very special friend" of ours in Alabama who has deceived a few people with their stud dog. [EG]"
Oh how I love that saying
"When I pull your chain, bark"
If I am wrong, I apologize, but it appeared to me that an allusion was made to deception and litters produced by a dog in Alabama. I just made sure that everyone knew that a certain dog in Alabama has done super by my Zulma, and I intend to send the same bitch back to him because I am a very very happy woman with the litter I got out of him. I am already raising a puppy from Alexa, and my husband is raising a puppy from Fina, but it was still hard to resist keeping a puppy from this litter for myself even though I am puppy-ed out. I had to force myself to let go. Even though his stud fee is pricey, it is worth it so I can have #1 pick puppy myself next time.
