Sorry Barb, one point is still unclear from that:
You signed a paper for the Rescue, which pulled him
out of a shelter for you, to say you took the
full liability for the dog when they released him to
you. Which I take it to mean indicated their lack of any
further involvement ? So - why were this Rescue then contacting
you to put conditions (i.e. neutering) on the dog they
had let go into your 'total responsibility' care ? I don't
understand, am I missing something ?
Didn't you query their continuing interest, when they
asked you ? What gave them any right to give you
60 days to get the op. done ?
Still sounds to me like this was some f-up re the Rescue,
and the vet's role in talking to them was a misunderstanding
rather than a callous breach of confidentiality. By all means
I would persue a complaint against the vet, but without any
expectation of much redress, given the lack of legislation in
your State; but I wouldn't give the entire blame for the situation
to the vet, I'd be querying their behaviour with the rescue as
well. Being a rescue is admirable but does not excuse them if
they do things which upset people !
Linda.

The veterinarians in NC "police" themselves much like the US Congress and the US Military "police" themselves with about the same outcome .. we find ourselves innocent!!

Right this is what I thought when this entire thing started. Ive done it many times before and have never had this happen. But to answer your question, the rescue has x number of pull rights. I'm not sure how it really works because I dont live in this other state. It has to do with that, some sort of liability between the shelter and the pulling rescue but again because I dont have pull rights, I dont really know. I really thought when I pulled this dog it would be over. Initially when the rescue contacted me, I was taken back a bit but tried to comply. Then I thought the letter would be enough. But once again no. It's very mind boggling to me and I will never work with this rescue again.

You signed the contract. Was there a stipulation you did not have full rights to the dog until neutered? Either way, you agreed to neuter the dog and they are checking up to make sure you are. To me, this isn't a vet issues. You are just mad the rescue found out, no?

by Bhaugh on 01 June 2013 - 14:06
Nope. And found out? What? I have nothing to hide. Got caught at what? Everything was out in the open so I'm not sure what you are referring to. This was a business to business transaction. That's all.

I am still of the thought that the vet did not do anything on purpose to hurt you. Also, call me crazy, but I am glad the rescue is following up on whether he has been neutered or not. For all they know, you could have taken the dog and started breeding him. At least they are trying to make sure he is neutered. Why not just realize you all have the dogs best interest in mind and drop it?

The vet board is not going to do anything .. in most cases they police themselves as the vet board is all veterinarians. If you take one of the "fraternity" to the vet board don't you think they will exact a price from you in the long run?? If you don't have a case good enough to win in court don't bother going to the vet board.
