Oh, hell, HSUS is coming after the very concept of humans owning animals. I'm no fan of hog-dog rodeos, exhibitions or competitions, or of pitting any animal against another animal for sport or entertainment, but HSUS is in the same league as PETA and ALF as far as I'm concerned.

It is really irrelevant which organizations are against this sort of thing.
It should be illegal every where.
It is barbaric, to say the least.
Yes, I understand wild hogs are quite a problem, and dangerous too, but that is just animal cruelty.
I can't understand how anyone could find this a sport, or entertaining.
That American Hoggers show that was on A&E was (is) also ridicules.
Them women made me ill. I just don't get how any animals suffering, is entertaining.

Don't have a problem with the use of dogs to find, follow and hold feral hogs at bay; in some areas it's simply not possible to have any success in at least moderating the population of feral hogs without using dogs for that purpose. There is a marked difference, however, between using dogs to find, follow and hold at bay, and using the dogs to maim or kill the hogs. I agree that the latter is barbaric.

The ridiculousness of Maggie's reference to HSUS and goat herding, was her attempt at deflecting from the "sport" of hog baiting and a feeble dig at me because she owes me several thousand dollars and is being, well..... evasive.

Is this the same Midgie who argued with me about the HSUS rescue I talked about here? She saw nothing horrific about the photos and narrative I posted of dogs living in a foot of more of packed feces missing ears,tails, tongues and eating cadavers to survive. The posts should still be here, read them for yourselves. I've never been to Joanro's we aren't exactly friends, but I doubt she would ever become involved with animal cruelty in any form.

Blitzen, we'er not friends because we haven't had the opportunity to meet. The Internet is not exactly conducive to getting to 'know' an individual. You are welcome to come visit any time, I'm sure it would be a pleasure meeting you, and fun talking dogs with you. ( Yes, that is the same midgie.)

I've enjoyed watching all your youtube vids, Joan...especially ALL the herding ones. Specifically the ones you took down. :-)
I watched this video and merely said it didn't match the description of the dogs found. With the HSUS and many rescues, it always pays to ask questions...there's a local rescue that brags about stealing dogs, lies about their deaths, etc.

So you are the same Midgie, then? And I told YOU that I knew people who were there and the conditions were worse than the video showed, but you still had to challenge everything. The trial is over, he's cooling his heels in prison, so the rest video has been released by the lcoal humane society. Even looking at the one you just linked, i really have to wonder how anyone could have doubted the animal cruelty charge. Ironic that you should be so vocal and accusatory of Joanro's post.
