kitkat, the previous issues with the breeder in the OP have most definitely NOT been from one person, as they've each involved a different puppy from completely different litters. Go back and read all of the threads and you'll see the specifics; to be fair, all of the complainants DID eventually receive their registration paperwork, it just took an unreasonably long amount of time and lots of excuses on the seller's part, and an excessive amount of effort and waiting on the buyer's part.

JonRob I have no interest in those other things that a lab can do very well, and I have no need for a pet dog who just sits around and wags his tail, but runs and hides if a human or predator intrudes on my property with bad intentions/coming to eat something. My show line Doberman(American line, no IPO titles in his pedigree(he has his BH,WAE and ZTP)has proven himself that he will protect me, and even my neighbors, against a threatening human. If he can do it, then a WL bred GSD should be able to. My other Dobe (euro SL/WL) treed a bobcat by herself, and has killed racoons by herself. She is just crazy that way, I never 'trained' her to hunt. I know how to socialize a dog, but some are just weak nerved and will never be completely stable no matter how much socialization you do.
Sorry this is off topic, but if I have to relate this story to the OP's, then I would say I would NOT blame the breeder of the GSD, since puppies are a crapshoot. I got my gsd from a very good and reputable breeder who I would refer others to get gsd puppy from, and it would be crazy to say anything negative about him based on a single puppy. He is only 6 months so I want to give him more time, he just wasn't born with the confidence, stability and drive of my Dobes, but maybe GSD's mature differently.

Hexe-my. Point is this, this kansas person comes out slinging crap about this breeder, Ddo we KNOW if even one word they said has even an ounce of truth to it, do we KNOW this is a totally different dog and a totally different person?
This kansas kennel spews some crap, than disappears.
I would think if someone had a "legit" gripe, they would stand firm and back their complaint. Up.
Not just do a drive-by, hit and run.
A delay in producing registration papers does not mean they are selling "shit dogs".
Sometimes, shit just "does" happen that delays things.
I have had people wait on registration papers before due to no other reason than sometimes, people make mistakes.
For instance, when I transferred my Spink papers to AKC, first I forgot to notorize my copy sent to Sabine, so here we go, a do over.
I resend the papers, $44 postage for "GUARANTEED" three day mail, 30 days later, Sabine got it.
So yeah, real shit does happen.
If you want to make a REAL note of bad breeders, yes, BRING IT.....
That info is helpful for every one. But it is just to easy for people to shine a bad light, for the wrong reasons.
Believe me, I know....my ex-stalker put me through some changes

Never assume that a friendly easygoing GSD will not protect you. I can tell you from my own personal experience that many of them will *if* they are bonded to you so you matter to them. They will not bite as a game (sport) but they will if the real deal comes down. Couple of my friends had the same experience. People have forgotten what we knew when I was a kid, that a dog can be a softie with the good guys and a holy terror with the bad guys.
Also Labs don't work sheep very well and you have sheep. A good stockdog is worth his weight in gold if you need one.
You seem not to like your GSD very much. Its not his fault he's not cut out to be a sport dog. Maybe you can find him a home where someone loves him for what he is especially since he's well bred.
"I know how to socialize a dog." Then get off the keyboard and go do it. Your earlier post said "I guess I need to take him to downtown and see how he reacts since we live out in the sticks." You can get good advice here and crappy advice here but nothing beats getting off your duff and working with your dog. Which I'm going to go do right now with mine.
