What a role model for success, too, that Stalin. Oh, yeah... how did he die? http://europeanhistory.about.com/od/communistrussia/a/histmyths3.htm

Slam - I agree that the gun show loop hole needs attention. Hopefully, the states themselves address this, but, I doubt it.

Bee wrote - "Carlin, I wonder, do you consider Obama any more narcissistic than any other past President? I think these days, any politician, let alone President, would likely have to have a drop or two of that trait. Still, I don't think Obama is any where near the dangerousness or degree of narcissism that showed up in say, John Edwards, or that Weiner guy."

Anthony Weiner's adolescent behavior isn't even worth my attention, suffice to say, this is the type of public servant we have representing us these days. John Edwards dispicable behavior is inexcusable to me, but I see his example to be more in the direction of corruptness of personal character, similar to Clinton , policy aside. Obama is different from these. I can appreciate his level of commitment and service, but question his vision of his role as the executive. It's great that he genuinely wants to "fix things", but as a liberal, believes civil government to be the elixir for all societal ills. I don't see this as a flaw in personal character, but the effect and conditioning of a flawed philosophy. The world is an ugly place to him, and as the "leader of the free world", it's his place to clean it up. The narcissism seems to be the product of his zeal, and his view of the office and civil government as a whole.

I dunno but, shit better NOT happen in Pennsylvania. The Federal Government did some sort of "drill" at 3 Mile Island Tuesday.

They didn't even tell us why they were there till hundreds of residents called on the National Guard to check it out. See something say something ya know. THEN they made a public statement for the residents not to worry it's just a "drill". Next thing you know everyone and their brothers are undercover fisherman taking pictures and videos in a boat on the river. I had to zigzag to get my scanoe past all em, I showed up late I guess. LOL

Why the heck would the Federal Government all of a sudden do a "drill" like that at a nuclear power plant ?

Even worse - why the heck did we all take a boat 500 away from it all just to get video/pictures. Gezzzz that was stupid !!  The National Guard guys told us it's time to go fishing, so we did.  LOL  What were they thinking !!!  What Smile

Rest assure though, anything happens at 3 Mile Island - we got every face, vehicle, hat, patch, mask etc in video and picture.

Jim,
the gun show loop hole is a federal matter and laws are on the books now, why don't you see if you can get ATF to enforce those laws.
You wanna get tough on gun crimes, get past the holy rollers and bring back public hangings, after due process of course.

As for what I or any other citizen does in private, that excedes your authority and sounds like tyrany to me.

Your next project is to go through everyones records and then seize guns?
You might want to consult your departments lawyers first.

You almost sound like a SUPER COP !!!

Everyone has something to worry about when their rights are violated.

Moons.

"The registries would insist criminals stay identified as criminals and keep legal guns out of their hands. It isn't all that hard of a concept, yet, for many, it is."

Ok, Bee, so the criminal goes to the gun store and is refused a gun purchase because of some "registries."  Good idea.  So then the criminal's friend goes to the gun store and with a clean record can buy whatever he or she wants.  Who'd a thunk it?

Or he just adds it to his drug order in the next delivery made by illegals entering the country.

I would think it would be smarter to concentrate on the crime and the criminal than worry about how he acquired his tools of the trade.

Jim's right about tougher penalties, but I don't want to feed educate or house these really nasty ones, I want them gone, done away with, hung.
After due process of course....:)

Micaho...OK. I'll imagine this. If the friend bought the gun for a known felon who should not have a gun and he sells it to him, then I see these outcomes.

1.) The friend is an idiot.
2.) Since the friend is knowingly selling to a felon, then he too, is now a criminal.
3.) If the gun selling friend was maybe, lawfully required to account for transactions regarding an exchange of possessions of any gun, I guess he would have to report it and have to check the background of the felon friend. Then I would also imagine the friend should supposedly want to be a law abiding citizen, and would have to tell the felon friend, "No", he is not getting a gun from him. And a good friend should explain that no one should be selling him a gun because he is not allowed to own one.

Bingo,
the friend is an idiot, when the gun registered to him is used in a crime he will be arrested and then we'll see how good of a friend he is.
Straw man purchases carry federal sentences.

Laws already on the books.
