Student, I am on topic...re-read the OP last three sentences...he/she is making a statment to thier own credibility as a breeder...posting on this forum is validating thier own practices as fact. Also, it sounds like you're talking about natural selection vs. human selection - which can in itself be a debatable topic. The line breedings you mention are purposly done by humans. With that, presently, there are thousands of dogs (linebred, inbred and outcrosses) being shipped all over the world every year and geography is no longer an issue.

I grow tired of the dead horse flogging on line. The person who started this thread got imediate positive feed back from a few people. I smelled a rat. I hope this continues to be a true forum and the people who try to benefit from petty comercial expolitation of this site are crouded out by good information and examples of the true spirit of our breed. Do not growel under the stick hits, fight back, fair and correct. Can you imagine trying to learn about our great breed and your only exposure is some rant or slander from '' experts''?

I'm surprised how many people have posted on this thread and have not stated the obvious. While it is true that with any line breeding you have the potential to "pass on mutated genes." It is also likely that you will pass on un-mutated genes. If you line breed dogs with good hips together that are from a line of dogs known to produce good hips you are more likely to produce pups that grow up and have good hips. You don't need a Masters Degree. That's Genetics 101.

mmmmmmmmmm, any one that says they breed the best ~i ran away from, its all a line to get your money. i would rather them say they are breeding top quallty as i dont think there is such a thing as the best as all lines have there problems.

"I love the picture of the puppies feeding on your bed. A real professional!"
Moving puppies to a location for easier and better photos...........not sure what your problem is with this.

you're right I guess there's not enough room to take a picture from the whelping box... My idea would be along these lines below... A picture is worth a thousand words, right?

WE are a small kennel. We only breed the best, and most unique and diversifiable German Shepherd Dogs. Our dogs are distinctively beautiful and intelligent, and can be used for man purposes.
Do I dare ask what are "man purposes"?

by darylehret on 08 February 2013 - 12:02
For the purpose of man, a dog of "utility". "We breed only the best," I assume would mean the best of what's available to him, as any breeder should be doing.
Honestly, I'd more concerned about the "unique" and "diversified" descriptions. Uniqueness makes me think of off-colors, mutations, and characteristics that fall outside the breed standard. Diversified implies that there would be less uniformity and less consistency in what's produced.

Wow. I would like to humbly apologize for my rant. I honestly wasn't thinking clearly. I was being harrassed on email, and by phone by someone accusing me of things that just simply were not true. My post was a direct retaliation in my own defense, which came off more as an attack, and I am guilty of behaving badly. I honestly did not mean to insult anyone with far more experience than me with this breed, and I honestly did not mean to attack ethical breeding practices that include posting what your dog's hips xray outcomes are. I have in fact had my dogs hips x-rayed, but I do not use this site regularly. I do not breed for money. I have only done 2 litters. I would like to address the person who made a comment about the picture of my dog birthing on a bed. You are correct, I am NO professional breeder. My dog had a beautiful whelping box fit for photos, but she had a litter of 9 and kept getting out of the box to seek a more comfortable spot, and that spot happened to be where she sleeps. I let her finish up there because she is my beloved pet and her comfort was more important to me than anything else. I have put myself in this position by posting an angry and innappropriate rant. I respect the integrity of this site, and of the breeders and I hope that my apology is accepted, as it is most sincerely felt. I did not mean to use my education as a weapon. I myself had been attacked, and it is HUMAN nature to defend itself. ONCE again, I reiterate my apology.

GSD student, the 4-5 and 5-5 linebreedings are not the problem. It's when the linebreeding doubles up and even triples or quadruples up on the same dogs!
A good example is the dog that was recently euthanized due to epilepsy:

Obviously SOMEONE thought this was acceptable!
Leslie, no harm, no foul! We're a tough bunch here, as you've found out. Just be honest and up-front with us (the way you have been) and we'll give you another chance.
It would help if you'd fill in any testing you've had done on your dogs in their pedigree though.
And it totally get letting Mom whelp on your bed! They do have minds of their own, sometimes!
Someone I know came home one day to find her dog had chosen to have her entire litter on the couch. Fortunatelly, I guess they did have a blanket on it, and she said when Mom was done, the couch didn't even have a single drop of blood on it!
