@ raw hides....anything like that which is processed is not digestible and can cause serious problems. As for raw chicken bones, I have fed them to my dogs. But I know of two different people who have had a dog die choking on raw chicken bones. One was an English cocker that keeled over choking while eating his chicken, which was his diet for years. The other was a Bull Terrier.

Hearing about one or two dogs choking on a bone is purely anecdotal compared to the benefits I have seen from raw feeding.  I can give many more examples of dogs bloating on dry food.  The health benefits I have seen with my own dogs and others that raw feed outweigh the rare risk of choking on a bone.  Raw feeding is not for everyone and I understand the economic and other reasons that people feed kibble.  Kibble can certainly be a lot cheaper, easier and more convenient.  The concern of a dog choking on a raw bone is not a reason to not feed raw.  Just as I may choke on a fish bone, I love fish and will still eat it.  You need to understand the risk and the reward and monitor your dog.

All I get from this article that gives some information from the study is that dogs have an increased ability to digest starches. Raw diets can include starches. Humans, dogs and wolves are omnivorous. I don't know what proof you are looking for Sunsilver but I don't see any evidence in this article that says a dog's digestive system is that much different than a wolf's digestive system requiring the dog to have his food cooked for him.  If you are making a point of the diet being balanced I would agree with you. But I see nothing in this article stating the requirements for raising a healthy canine or that it varies from a wolf. I have been feeding a raw omnivorous diet to my dogs for seven years now and I am confident that I am doing the best for them that I am able to do.
