I find it amazing that some breeders that supposedly have a warranty, guarantee or claim to stand behind their breeding so easily blame the buyer for genetic conditions.  What is even more amazing is the people that stick up for them and even more amazing the people that will still buy puppies from them.

That is my message badicly. IF a breeder offers a stinking GUARANTEE, than why should they not be expected to stand behind it?
OR, quite simple, leave the word or ANY misleading statement that someone might REASONABLY rely on to the effect that you will stand behind your dog out of the equasion.
I guess those that are experienced in the breed and know how to research pedigrees and hip scores had a much better chance of getting a sound dog.
As I stated somewhere else, My two imported dogs I bought had no written guarantee. I researched dogs and breedrrs, and "took my chances".
Thankfully, evetrything worked out great for me and my dogs.
But why should the average Shepherd buyer be ab
le to be dupped, and basicly ripped off because they are new to the breed, or lied to in writing, "I GUARANTEE" blah, blah bla
I have found a lot fewer people habe thousands of dollars to invest in a dog which sale of was badedl

That the sale for is based on empty promises.
I ain't saying that anyone had to offer a guarantee on their dogs, and I don't say that IF YOU as a buyer is comfortable enough with both dog and breeder to buy the dog without a guarantee, not to buy it,
BUT, In this situation it was said this ssle came with and had a guarantee
IF YOU OFFER A DAMN GUARANTEE JUST HONOR IT, THATS ALL.

slam, Thumbs Up
Usually what happens with those that stand behind the same
breeders that tout guarantees then back out of them blaming the
owner, well, those supporters generally go on to practice the very
same ill thought breeding practices, you know, untested dogs,
dogs with bad hips and/or elbows. Like begets like they say.

Actually kitkat, what generally happens with some of these 'experts' that
know so much? Well, when they have a pup they bought or bred that turns
out to have shitty nerves, bad hips or elbows etc, well, they just go ahead
and sell that dog to a newbie that doesn't know any better and believes
everything this 'expert' will tell them.  These 'experts' will usually find any way
to explain away serious temperment issues in puppies like submissive
urination etc that they sell to yet more unsuspecting but trusting newbies-
'Don't worry, he'll grow out of it, it's normal'  they will tell them.Thinking

Of course, these 'experts' are quick to blame the buyer for something, or,
they will wash their hands of the entire mess. These same 'experts' will
be the first to advise others what to look for in a puppy-and they will be sure
to note things like submissive urination would be a huge red flagThinking

And at the end of the day, the original post and the subsequent comments
are the exact reason why I don't recommend people put any faith into these
so called 'guarantees', they generally are not worth the paper they are written on!

I agree that a contract should be honored, not disputing that whatsoever. I just see a contract and a guarantee as different. And yet I see people use the words interchangeably like they are the same. You have can a contract for the purchase of the dog and specifics around it, but more problems of heartbreak and interpretation are created by guaranteeing H&E , that lead to these discussions. I think breeders ought to be upfront about possibility that no matter who the two dogs are, H&E problems can occur. With this maybe we cut down on the demand of the breed from Backyard buyers, thus making it less profitable for BYB. At the least it will decrease the expectation that people have that the guarantee "assures" them they won't get H&E issues. Sometimes over regulation has unintended consequences. Again, this is just my take and most know I am not mainstream when it comes to this breedBat.  Not meant to criticize you Kitkat, just commenting on a practice here in States that I think is faulty.

So true, Gustav. Many breeders need to better educate their puppy  buyers on the potential health issues and what a guarantee really means, Puppy buyers do tend to interpret a guarantee to mean "it won't happen".  I can't tell you how many times I've heard from puppy owners that they don't have to worry about health issues because they got a guarantee on their pup.  Of course, I also talked to a woman recently who has a SL pup she imported it from Germany and she proudly boasted that her dog won't have hip problems or health issues because it came from Germany :(
