i wouldnt want to teach a dog that has any type of aggression, any type of bite work

A purebred Belgian Malinois from working lines is excellent for bite work, so there is no need to cross breed.

If you are really  dead set on cross breeding then cross a Malinois with either a German Shepherd Dog or Dutch Shepherd from working lines. Those cross breedings will be the best. Pitbulls are very hard to manage and crossing one with another breed can often lead to a very hard to train and unpredictable dog. Any dog with strong wolf blood (Czech wolfdog) is going to be hell to train as they are too close to a wild wolf. Wolf dogs are very dangerous and should be handled with extreme care. I'd never have one around other dogs or small children as they can snap very quickly. That is why they stopped breeding GSDs to wolves in the first place, they are too unpredictable. To me a purebred Malinois or GSD from working lines would be the best choice, but it's up to you as you are the one who will be stuck with the dog. With a purebred dog you have a better chance, as you will know what to expect from the dog.

i can not understand anyone wanting an apbt for anything. hell here in franklin county a person can't even get homeowners ins. if you have one or a dog mixed with one or wolf hybrds either. there is a lot of talk about malis on this threAD. WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE GSD? hell, i have bred and trained several gsd dogs and they, if you breed the right dogs, have more ppd than anyone should want.i have a friend that has crossed the malXds and also into the gsd and has not found anything better than the chech gsd.i personelly like a little 25% or so or german wl4

@sable, do u mean "anyone wanting an apbt for anything" work wise, or if u ruled the world they wouldnt even exsist.............IMO they make great dogs to the right owners, ppl just LUVE 2 misuse them

by sable59 on 09 January 2013 - 17:01

no,i didn't say anything like that.all i said was,"a person can't get homeowners if you have such dogs". thats here ,and may not be like that elsewhere.i have seen mals used as dual purpose dogs and do well as far as i know police got away from the gsd because,as i understand, more about the larger size.in one of my own breedings i was asked to downsize my dogs. this was from shawn from ky. state police, they want dogs 75 to 80#. the chech x1/4 working  line german cross has proven to do this with increased versitility all around. please note, people will and have the  right to choose whatever they want here in the U.S.A. AND THE INSURANCE COMPANYS HAVE THE  RIGHT NOT TO INSURE YOU IF THEY DEEM A SPECIES DANGEROUS AS THEY HAVE DONE HERE WITH THE PBT AND WOLVES AND WOLF CROSSES.   wade

My insurance company doesn't insure Pits, Rotts,Dobies or GSD. They had no clue what my Malinois was, but I did not show her either.

@ sable i got you.........about that last comment. VERY TRUE, do you think the GSD should be on that aggressive breed list, if yes y IN GA THEY ARE, im haveing a hard time finding a place

by sable59 on 10 January 2013 - 02:01

i have never heard of anyplace or company where a gsd was on a black list/gsd along with labs are used a lot for service jobs etc. paul, any reason for the ban on gsd in your are or are you saying insurance on the dogs them self. i was talking about homeowners.supakamario, no i do not consider them a  aggressive list. a dog needs socialized as soon as his shots are given and timeline passed so as you know the pup is now immune.a working SD should be  dog alive today social unless sent on a decoy or a bad guy. they are, in my humble opinion, the most versatile dog alive today.as you can probably see, I LOVE MY GSD.   WADE
