My sister had a Cat back in the early 70's.  the Mother was Tricolor, but most of the pups were spotted.  Your guy's handsome whatever he is, but without a DNA test you'll be guessing on his genetics all of his life and never know for sure.  We just adopted a lil white scrufty mutt and it's anybody's guess what the make up is.    Mom we knew was a Shih Tsu/ Brussles mix, thought that Dad might be Poodle/JRT, but as she's gotten bigger suspect it might have been a Chinese Crested.   Like your dog though, You'll love him whatever the test comes back.  If you can get the DNA test, it'll be a good conversation starter anyhow.   PS, here's our lil white Scruff...

Hoola and possibly Plott and Hoolas can have a bit wider jawline, at least some of the pure breds I have seen and I am in no way an expert.  Hoolas are head strong and definitely will test boundaries, I have heard them called the "Spotted Devil" and yup, that fits a few I have worked with lol.  Awesome dogs though and yours is a beautiful dog.  If you really wanted to know, get a DNA test, you could do what a friend did with her mixed dog, at her local human society during a local fund raiser.  They held a contest to see who could guess what her mix was with everyone donating $5.00 to the pot per pick.  The winner that picked the same as the DNA test split the pot with the human society.

Sorry it has taken so long to Respond, Here is a picture of our Boy Left and a NALC Catahoula Hound. They could be twins! So I'm still saying its still possible for him to not have any Rotti, We are considering a DNA test. He is very strong minded! Catahoulas come in all Colors and their sizes very too. We shall see, I will let you all know what the out come is!

Looks a lot like a Rottie/Shepherd mix I once had. He didn't have the blue eyes or brindle though. But there are purebred German Shepherds that have blues eyes and there are also brindle German Shepherds, though they are rare.
So maybe he is a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix.

My guess is the DNA reference bank won't have enough of a sample of Catahoulas to make that worthwhile (unless you just want to do it for fun). I wouldn't waste my money on it for this dog. It will likely come back with 3 different breeds...likely founders of the Catahoula breed.
