Think it's OK for an EPI dog? jackie harris

I have been reading about it;  antimicrobial, antibiotic, antifungal, and a lot of other stuff;  also treats goiters, etc in humans, hybothyrodism, pancritatits(sorry SP) and the list goes on and on.  Amazing stuff,  am scared to rock my almost 14 year old females boat but I think I am going to put her on this and take her off the Salmon oil/Vit E regimen also.  I hope it covers anti inflamatory process also as you figure she is 94+ and she does have some arthritis.  All this time I was thinking the Salmon Oil/Vit E regimen was helping the arthritis but I think coconut oil will also do the trick.  We will see,  Thx to everyone for all the good info.  Nan

Yes, Jackie, I believe it is. It doesn't stress other organs to process it the way other oils like salmon oil do.

Even though Ive been using coconut for myself for a while now, I dont think its BETTER than fish oil. The dog that I give it to is allergic to fish so that isnt a choice for me. Vit E is really an important vitamin so if you feed it now, again I dont think I would discontinue it.

Please remember that coconut oil is Omego 6 not omega 3. We all need the 3 omega's 3,6,9. For the dog I give it to, he also gets omega 3 through chia seeds (better than flax) ALONG with the coconut oil to make sure what I give is balanced.

Even though I love coconut products, many of the claims made, I have not found them to be factual (damn that "loose weight" claim)

Thanks for the info Bhaugh;  I do not think I will give the coconut oil instead of the Salmon/E;  I will just add to her diet, like I said she will be 14 here real shortly and I really hate to rock her boat;  however, I do think her coat can use a little help as it feels a little dry, but damn, I cannot complain.  Thx  again,  Nan

PS:  How do you like it for yourself?  Just curious, seems to have or be claiming many good things;  does it work for you?

Love it! Use it in smoothies, for frying etc.
Wife does pretty much all her baking with it.
Dogs love it, no dry skin ever.
We don't buy into all the hype, but for us,
it's just one more tool in the kit.
