I wouldn't worry too much about your pup gaining a lot of weight, especially if his poop looks good.
If it is runny, or too mushy, then I would take his poop to the vet to be checked for parasites.
What you will find with a little more research is that you want your pup to stay lean as he is growing.
Geting too heavy can potentially have drastic effects on how his bones and joints form.
Feeding too much can also tax organs that are not fully developed.

Thanks everyone for the advice and information. You all have answered all my questions for now. Hopefully I can get used to this site more and post more pics of my pup as he gets older
