You could do one of two things...just get the puppy and worry about the husband later OR act so pitiful that he goes and gets the puppy himself! lol
Goodluck!

I really, really wanted a puppy from our trainer's litter but Martin said a flat out "NO!"- our house was too small, little pups are too much work, etc. So, I just kept talking every day for two weeks about the things we would do with the puppy and how much fun it would be. Every week our trainer would have us visit the puppies "to socialize them" (wink!) after Senta's class- who can resist a cute little pup? When Bosco was 10 weeks old, he went home with us after class. Good thing neither of us knew how tough the first month was going to be! Now, Martin loves Bosco a ridiculous amount. :)

I didn't talk to DH this morning before he left for work... that's part of the timing thing... new job, it is just too new at the moment, he's too involved dealing with that, and thinks our one dog is just fine...........
I know if I just showed up with the darlin' bugger he'd be all over it. I really was thinking this would be my youngest son's dog, hopefully, that is how I"d like the bond to be. When his brother who he idolizes leaves for college in two years, he's going to miss him, and a pup would help him with that... I was thinking. (He already misses him due to all the time he spends with the GF.)
Laura, I am with you ... I need more time just with the idea to take hold in his head!
Melba, that has been my MO before, it isn't totally off the table, IMHO.....
I need some coffee, I can't believe I typed all this without my !!

trying to arrange (with a VERY good friend) a good shipment time because we just bought a house. Didn't want to ship a dog
amongst the chaos that is moving. So, when setting up kennels and such I was questioned WHY we needed an extra ha ha ha
I told him it was for the dog that we were getting :) I got a dirty look and the "oh" look. He's very tolerant of my GSD obsession
and supportive in my training endevours ha ha.... then again, he did go buy a 10 kilowatt military generator without talking too, so we
both have our "things".
I've (we've!) fostered dogs in this manner also. I get the "where are you going" ... oh, to pick up a foster. Don't worry, he/she will
not be here for long, just doing training before he/she is on to it's permanant foster :) I get my fix and the rescue gets a trained,
more adoptable dog. It's win/win :)
