Hence the reason why you need 3 people LOL. Put the puppy on a leash #1 holds/stacks, #2 out in front with toys calling puppy and #3 taking the pic LMAO!!!!!!! It has taken me 5 years
to finally get decent stack pictures with minimal time/effort. It used to take an hour and for most of our dogs, 10-15 min is all I need :)

We'd love to see all of your "not so stacked" photos cause I know some of them are hilarious!!!! Tongue on nose, weird expressions and all ha ha. I don't ever erase my bloopers.. they help me remember what a goofball the dogs are.

Ditto what everyone else is saying...takes 3 people to get it right.  I've done it with two and a ball but it's tough and took 80 shots to get one that was sort of ok.

While I agree with Melissa about the lower point of view, I don't think a lot of people are necessary if you work with the dogs an they try to learn what you're doing.  I can take dozens of stack shots of Hutch before he'll retract his tongue or perk his head another direction.  It's hard picking the best one when they're all near identical.  Many dogs will try to the best of their ability to learn what I want from them, and that means you have to give them verbal feedback so they know if they are correctly complying with your wishes.

I haven't had a second or third assistant to help with my pics in over four years.  I even took the pic below with a timed delay feature from my camera, as I moved to sit down in front of Hutch before it snapped the shot.  I only had to select the best of two pictures I took.

Darylehret, the one I have, Nero, does a stand stay will not move EXCEPT when I'm trying to stack him. I'm pretty sure he takes great
joy in playing the doggie 2 step because the look on his face is priceless. It is a game to him and I will not punish him for something I
want him to at least look happy doing LOL.

Tan is light.  Cirberus was the pup that was pure black up until about 8 weeks.   With white GSD on both sides, most all of the puppies had a light tan.   It would have been nice if the pups had pulled in some more of dad's red in the tan, but alass, none did.

Thanks for the opinion.

There are some things in this thread I may have to try, next go 'round... I am still learning to stack myself.

The last stack picture I did, I did by myself... but as Melba said, she likes to play the doggie two-step too. LOL!

My trick was to set my camera up on my tripod (it can go low enough to use for her, but I'm not sure how well it'd work with a puppy), then stack her while holding my remote shutter (a small device you can plug into the camera, that lets you hit the button from however far away... so you don't have to be RIGHT THERE with it)... once I had decided she was decent, I chucked her frisbee and hit the button. Of course, she sort of has this ->  look on her face, but hey, what can you do without recruiting at least another person or two? LOL!

JUst carry the camera around your neck night and day

and act Like A CLOWN...yes three people helps but  I always waited for a DISTRACTION

Yesterday RITO came home for boarding and I worked for 30  mins with his owner to capture a good pic...he is 6 yrs old but Satterwhite doesn't do stacking
THIS IS a man who for years trained the  Staffordshire and he never thought he would ever like another breed ...I convince him now..he wouldn't take a million dollars for RITO.

This picture was taken last year when I boarded RITO..he did this on his own.. I do not stack , I have no patience...IF they do it naturally I snap the shot....

This is all we got...lol  lol
He would not obey or even co operate... 104* outside so I guess he had good reason ! lol

So Fawn:  do not worry, just carry the CAMERA ready and PRAY

Yeah.   I probably also should get a real camera and not an iPad for my pictures.

Akward and slow, pictures taken with my smartphone are rarely acceptable, the one below probably as good as it gets.
