Opa
Do you have an alter ego on the board I wonder, you sound remarkably like someone else......

Opa, this isn't about trying to make people feel bad, it's about trying to improve our lot in the UK... wanting to do things properly is a good thing, isn't it?  I don't think anyone's moaning... wanting to better our position is pretty forward thinking in my book!

Opa

Naming names would be gossiping and that was not why I posted this thread. My allegations may be unsubstantiated on this board and you can choose to not believe them if you wish - that is your perogative, just like I choose not to believe much that is put on this board.

I am not moaning at all about having to have SchH / Koerung - I don't have to have them to breed as you rightly point out - but I do desire to improve the breed when I breed and so they are goals for me.

What I am moaning about is the undermining of the credibility of all show dogs titles because of the deceit of some.

Opa is NOT David Payne!  Any chance of having a thread without this drivel?

OPA, i have no need to name names or name places this is for disscussion not for name slating and not wanting to turn this into a slagging match, which all to often happens on here,

Opa & Abby Normal are illustrating very, very well why this forum is not a fit medium for resolving issues.

Hutch and Nellie, I know there are some people trying to improve the breed in the U.K.Take the german sieger show is a fine example of that.

But take it from me if anyone in germany got caught doing what you said the S.V. court would come down on them very hard.

In our kennel we have trained our own  dogs in the sport of Sch with good results in the UK . We have also brought in Dogs with Titles from Germany, not for competition but for their qualifications. We have also sent a female out to Germany to gain her titles. As for the comments on this thread there is no doubt some dogs come into the UK where the  titles are a little concerning. Our female that was sent to Germany was trained in tracking and obedience before she left the UK, she came back with Sch 1 and Korung. The three that were trained here 2 females Sch 1 and 1 male Sch 2  would fare better in competition than any of our imports with the exception of one. Our Female who gained her titles in Germany could be better in the protection phase but all round she is worthy of her titles. My advice to anyone who buys from abroad is that they check the performance of the dogs they purchase by watching them demonstrate their ability. As for those who send them out to be titled, train your dogs before they leave so you are sure the results are genuine to your satisfaction. Most people who puchase or send their dogs out to be titled are only looking for the qualifications so they can enter the system  in Europe of which when breeding with other titled animals they can enter and gain recognition. What we are seeing here is no different to what you might see in Europe as to the ability of the the dogs some are better than others. At the end of the day I say get on with your own dogs and training while at the same time just being aware of the situation. If you want to persue showing in Germany and you need the qualifications and you can afford it then by all means send your dog out, If not, train your dog here to the standard required and unless you can find an official recognised event  for titles combined with a Korung you will have to send your dog out in any case. This is the way it is and I cannot see it changing now or in the future. Any doubts train them yourself. John Ward
