Looking at the video it is not enough to say much about the dog it shows uncertaincy and is not sure what it should be doing and it is getting no help at all from the handler.  The fat guy dodging about is doing nothing in particular however the Guy handling the Dog needs to start from Basics that is there to see plain enough all in all i see a confused dog.

This may not apply to the dogs that you breed, but a lot of dogs that are green Gds and dogs on a whole need encouragement from the handler.  They have to be build up to the point of being red hot.  I dont believe that we are talking about the best of the best type of dog but rather a very average dog at best.

Dogs like this will need support from the handler, and handler stupidity travels straight through the leash to the heart of the dog.

QUOTE: "She keeps backpaddling. I think you could probably scare her off by making a lot of noise and running at her."

Watch the video again. The dog doesn't show any indication that it would run.  The dog never backs up on its own. Watch the handler. The dog keeps a tight line. Every time the dog is backing up it's the handler dragging the dog back.  The handler pulls the dog back 6 times and everytime the dog goes back to the end of the line. It does show that the dog isn't sure what the handler wants it to do. I can hear every training helper in the world yelling, "BE A POST!!!!!!!"

That is exactly what i said in my post the Dog is confused it does not know what the handler expects of it through his poor handling technics. As i said he needs to go back to basices and learn. The video is unfair as to judge what the dog may or may not be, Due to the handler and the Guy in front who may have been stung by a Bee the way he is acting

Very true statement

The pulling back in this case would be more in the context of a correction.  He is in essence correcting the dog after the dog does what he wants.

Ramsgsd - Good post (no pun intended)

Steve & Trouble- you both made good points and I think we are all in agreement, just expressing views differently.

I see a big man acting in a manner meant to provoke the dog, & a guy holding the leash gleefull at the dogs responce, smiling at the camera about the dogs reaction, then getting worried & hauling her back in; & the dog is getting mixed messages, handler is pleased with dog's behaviour, this barking & lunging is encouraged...then not pleased & yanked back, kinda pisses the dog off, then OK happy, continue, then hauled back in like a fishing line. They are just teasing this dog to get a good video of a dog barking, hoping they can make some money from the dog.
I doubt if they know or care to know anything about training or socializing the animal, just provoke her to bark, tape it, & make money. End of story. Poor dog, I hope someone who might value her does buy her. jackie harris
