If possible could we see a couple more shots of her...maybe you could have someone else take the picture? If you tie her up, step way back, get her attention on you, and have the other person take a few side shots. Pictures can be very deceiving with animals, especially with dogs and horses...thanks..

You got caught by a rogue plain and simple. You have not got what you paid for and You are letting your heart rule your head no good in cases like this,
Why because if not stopped the same Guy will do the same to other unsuspecting people.
You say you do not think this dog will do the job you want it to. Well all you have to do is say nothing more to the breeder and write a letter to the Officers department of which this so called up right officer of the Law is with,
Let them know this guys true character, Do not play about on a forum just asking and talking but get something positive done that is if you are a mind to do it

The VA actually pays for your dog $ or re emburses you if you already bought the dog, even provides training/boarding schools for PTSD therapy dogs for Veterans. Not sure if you and your hubby has loked into that program yet. There's some paperwork the PTSD councellor can fill out for you. You should look into that, if you haven't already. Let me know if you need more info, I can probably get it for you.

My husband is going to write him a letter appealing to his sense of honor. If that doesn't work, I've decided to hire a lawyer. It's not the money, it's the principle!
realmccoy, I would like to hear some more about the military program. We had no idea. I would also appreciate any advice anyone else can give me in general when it come to therapy dogs. All the information I am reading on the internet is very conflicting.
Benzi, here are some pictures we took today. I hope everyone thinks she is as beautiful as I do.

Are you sure you'll need a lawyer...can't you just file at small claims court since the amount is much less than $5K? It shouldn't be hard to prove your case. I can think of one recent purebred pup that was an Oops, and discounted to $800. That should demonstrate the real value of a pedigree, very easily.

The dog is beautiful and whatever venue you choose Im sure she will shine.
Hey take him to Judge Judy. I always say, if the papers are not in hand, walk away. Rarely do I ever hear the paper issue turn out well. I learned that lesson the hard way.

I used to belong to a Schutzhund club that was predominantly Malinois-and top of the line Mali's.
There was one pup from this same breeding line that looked very much like your dog. He was bigger, bigger boned and just a great temperament all around. He became a police dog and he did very well. He was also great at home.
There were a lot of jokes about what was in the "wood pile" in Belgium. There were a lot of stories about the murky past.
I think your dog will be a great dog for everything you have in mind.
The naughty/sloppy/loosey-goosey LEO should have known that his super smart K9 Malinois would "find a way". He bred his bitch to another LEO's Shepherd stud. It is possible to have two fathers in a litter. My guess is that the simplest answer to a mystery is probably the truth.
I can only imagine that he was shocked by how some of the pups looked as they got to be 7-8 weeks old.
Also, registering some of the pups would not be possible because the DNA would not match. Too bad he didn't have the right stuff to stand up to the truth once he knew what that was.
I think he owes you a refund of 75% of your money if you want to keep the pup and an apology. But, you probably have a great dog.
