I've read too many of Gustav's posts to fall for that one. Learned a lot from that Corleone feller that used to hang around here too.

Rik....lol....In regards to splitting the breed, the concept is good but the logistics will not happen. Still, it is inevitable that the WGSL people will eventually get to where the ASL people are today, because genetics will continue to lead these dogs in a downward spiral as it has for past thirty years in WGSL and past 40 years in ASL. No matter what either has done over this period, (Sch titles, or some kinda of ACE or something requirement in ASL), it doesn't matter...the temperament has continued down. And it will continue to because training will not supersede genetics. So, I don't post much against SL breeding anymore, I'll just bide time because it WILL get to a point that the health and lack of temperament will stop the dog from being "attractive" internationally just like the ASL....I may not see it but I trust science and history far more than I trust opinionated breeders. BTW, this post isn't bashing...its merely stating an eventual consequence if things remain the same!

Speaking of ASL's, how did there become a split in our country's organizations, or is UScA fairly new because of a failing GSDCA?  This quote is by the secretary of the GSDCA in they year 1916, and seems on par with "what ought to be".

Since I'm at it, I'll post this pic taken from a 1924 issue of the Journal of Heredity.

darly,
Those were the dogs of old.

Who would want a dog like that these days?

What beauty pagent would you expect for him to win?

Yeah he can jump but he is as ugly as sin.

I would much rather have a dog that is genetically breed to run in show rings and from their own shaddow.

But THAT kind of dog would cost an arm and a leg these days.  I'm not wealthy enough or politically well connected to deserve such a masterpiece of fine breeding art.
