I say check out the above mentioned Hans (Alpinek9.com), Jinopo or Vali ( cainidepolitie.com).
Vali has some nice stud dogs (Quanto Jipo Me, Klara z PS & Carly PS among others)
Seems like all 3 guys are connected and would be your best bet to purchase a pup through.   Looks like Jiri with Jinopo will be at his place in November 2010 doing a seminar and he gets many of his dogs from Jiri.

Our company has 3 import shepherds and 2 mail's....all capable of family protection.

But....if family protection is your primary goal, the Boerboel's from S. Africa are absolutely one of the finest family protection canines out there.  Do some Google research on them.  Not a ton of domestic breeders but there are some good quality dogs bred here in the states.

I'm honestly extremely happy with a female I just obtained Geena vom Andi. We did some bitework yesterday and I was pleasently surprised. She is not equipment oriented in the least but bites what is presented. She immediatly spat it out and went back after the decoy. I would like to see what she does on a hidden sleeve suit as well. Geena is very high drive but not crazy. I love this dog!! One in a million.

Hard to say what "lines." It's more the individual dog than the line; though of course there are lines that tend to produce this more often than others. For instance, I have one female who is very social, very affectionate, very stable, but I would also have to say she's a little sharp for lack of a better word, because she reacts/changes her mind about someone VERY quickly. I am careful when I evaluate her pups for placement because they can be "sleepers." They seem all sweet and friendly, but don't be fooled into thinking they won't bite. This kind of dog can be even more "dangerous" if you don't know what you're doing and don't practice extreme diligence in reading/watching the dog at all times. People meet Capri and think she's as sweet as pie (though she is excellent in SchH and is said to "work like a male" in protection). But she can and will give you the hairy eyeball and if you're not paying attention, by the time you notice it, you've been bitten already.

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but my point is that it's more about knowing how to evaluate the dog than just picking a line and assuming it will do the job. I know that doesn't help much, but it's the unfortunate truth. You can't just buy a certain line and have a guarantee that it will turn out any particular way. Your best bet is to find a breeder whose evaluations you trust, who has bred this before and knows which crosses tend to produce more of that (they still have to be able to correctly evaluate the temperament of their pups) or wait and buy a slightly older pup whose temperament is a bit more pronounced and easier to see, rather than simply buy a pup out of a litter who "should" possess those traits.  I heard your female is only weird around you. Is this true ? I heard that when you are out of the picture she is sweet as pie, and there is no "sharpness".

Maybe you are inflating this female and not being objective, but seeing what you want to see in her. I do not like dogs that just bite. Please tell me about this biting thing. If you are breeding her to the great weasel catcher, maybe that is not something that you want to cross weasel catchers with.

I just thought I would mention this, cause other wise 4 months later, the expensive pet parade will begin at your house.

How is the kid ?? Can he work a tug or a sleeve yet ?

LOL. Jeffy, it appears you really do miss me; you keep following me around. ;-) Seems I already have a parade (or a stalker!)!!!

You're right; I am inflating her and not being objective. She's really just your average Golden Retriever in a pretty GSDs body, mediocre and sub-par in every way.   Really makes me wish I hadn't waited almost 7 years, studying and researching and learning and waiting until I could afford to buy a truly top quality foundation female. Makes it seem ridiculous that once I started looking and had my contacts on the lookout, that it took sooo long before one suitable, who possessed the traits I was looking for, was found.

Her 12 puppies have all been flukes- sheer luck that they're turning out the way they are. Shocking, really, when you consider their mother is scared of her own shadow and will bite anything that moves too fast around her. But that's ok; I need to make back the money I spent on buying her so I'm just gonna keep breeding her anyway and hope the line at my door stretches around the block!

LMAO.

In all seriousness, why must you twist everything I say just to derail a thread where someone was asking a legitimate question? You want to know what Capri is like, ask someone who's worked her since nothing I say counts. Ask someone who's met her a few times. Ask the people who own her puppies.

Capri has bitten one person, and it was well deserved. Any further questions, please start a new thread to provoke me. This isn't fair to the OP.

But it is more fun to play with you. The OP is an idiot.

Yet, she was for sale. LOL If she was all that, considering how rare a truly great foundation female is, why would anyone sell her.

Are her offspring weasel chasers ?? Or are you instructing them in the ways of the laser ? LOL I keep forgetting you are a Chi town suburb girl. EVERYONE stalks them, just ask. LOL

Is the kid at least walking ?

Jenni78

by Jenni78 on 21 August 2010 - 19:08

LOL. You are mean mean mean.

The kid is just starting to walk. He does not catch weasels yet.

Actually Capri wasn't "for sale." More of a "anything's for sale for the right price" type of a deal, not that it's any of your business. ;-) I was only able to get her at all because she was unproven as a brood bitch; she was only a year old. If she'd been proven at the time I wanted to buy her, there's no way they would've sold her, and if they would've, she'd have been the price of a small house, not just a car.
