Ron,
HERE'S A thought: bids are supposed to be presented to the NEC for review. Then, guess what? The bids are [supposed to be and have in prior years] presented to the GBM for selection. So, NO, "Mr. Here's a Thought", learn the process. It is NOT up to competitors exclusively to approve the venues. However, venues should be decided upon with the competitors in mind.
Here's another thought: BID on hosting an event yourself!! You have the money to pull it off ,exactly as it best suits YOU. That way, you can be even more "quite happy." Of course, there's that little thing called "sportsmanship," but don't let that slow you down any in arranging things to suit yourself.
Further, my question regarding airports, directly related to competitors--spectators don't usually bring dogs!! Get a clue, before you decide to jump on your little nasty.
Lastly, as you are clearly NOT omniscient, you cannot, therefore have ANY clue as to anyone else's plans to compete a year from now... or ever. But, again, don't let a little thing like civility slow you down.

There may be a bid for the Working Dog Championship from an Ohio club. If that flies, then all three national working events will be in the Mid-East region. Add in the Sieger Show in Wisconsin and all the USA national events would be in the same general area [yes, Wisconsin is not in the Mid-East region]. Hmmm.... maybe the hosting clubs (IF those bids are accepted) could really work a hotel chain with facilities in all three or four venues... Just a thought (albeit from someone not involved in putting any of the three on-make that clear before the villagers start "juju-bwana'ing" again).

But, I guess there may be some competitors who would like to compete in empty stadiums. I recall one who once said he had a podium in his backyard. He said he and his dog stood on all the time!

You are correct. We (Mid-Ohio Schutzhund) have put in a bid for the Working Dog Championships. We applaud Brent's efforts and creative thinking to make the event special/memorable . . . I like Brent's idea of protection at night . . . we're going to mix it up a little bit and do tracking at night . . . not sure if it's been done before, but we'll give it a try :) Kidding of course!
We'll be in a football stadium with hay/grass tracking . . . probably ankle to slightly taller height. I'll get back to everyone once I know for sure that we are hosting.
