I don't know how they will pull it off, but certainly look forward to seeing this.

As a point of clarification, in AKC tracking you know well before the trial if you made the draw or if you are an alternate.  The basic entry level track is about as long as a ScH3 track and the TDX is longer so it is hard to find a that much available land.  The draw on track day is the draw for tracks.

The only thing for us to do to prevent it is to "encourage" the breed clubs that are unalterably opposed to biting sports anyway.  Their delegates are certainly going to vote against it anyway, but it would help to point out to them that the WDS would only be duplication of effort and an attempt to re-invent the wheel, as there are already organizations (USA, DVG, WDA, etc.) holding hundreds of schutzhund trials every year already.   There is no need for an additional biting title by the AKC; all it need do is recognize the schutzhund titles from the other organizations, which are already internationally recognized.  You might find out what your local AKC gsd club plans to do.

Samba,

When I did it, admittedly years ago, you did not know when you showed up whether you were going to track, or not. The draw was done after everyone showed up.   Even with an apparently new system with alternates, it does not seem at all fair.  If a person is not going to participate, don't take their entry.  Alternates should only be for those who enter after a trial is filled.

I attended one TDX trial and it was an embarassment. I wasn't entered, just went to support friends who were.   ALL the gsds, goldens, rotts and labs failed the TDX.  The ONLY dog that passed was....a papillon!!

Maybe it won't be all that bad!

I'm hoping for the best.

The WDA is the one being kicked in the face Sitasmom.  That's the whole point of this thread.   AKC GSDCA has REMOVED the event in question AWAY from, and completely out of the control of WDA,  so what WDA has or doesn't have is immaterial since they will not be controling or benefitting from the event.  Is anyone really surprised?  Who amongst us that has been around long enough to witness the history of schutzhund in this country ever for a minute  ever really thought AKC would back WDA if push came to shove?  AKC is a whore and will do whatever it wants when money is involved including steam rolling WDA.

I honestly find it interesting that a German Shepherd Dog club that will not recognize SchH titles is wanting to host a world event that embodies schutzhund. The GSDCA will only recognize the WDS titles but the SV will not recognize the WDS titles. I think it is a slap in the face to all those that have ever been involved in schutzhund. You are alos talking about a club that has never hosted a trial in this venue, whether SchH or WDS to my knowledge, if I am wrong, please feel free to correct me. If it brings about change, then great, but I won't be holding my breath. There has been a huge push to get the AKC to recognize schH titles on pedigrees and so far it has not happened. Does that mean it won't? No, it just means I won't hold my breath.

I agree with you Shrabe and I also agree with Mystere, who's following paragraph tells the real story and bears repeating:

"Only five breed clubs were authorized to host the WDS trials. And, they were limited to single digits as far as the number of trials per year. Of those, only three actually held any trials. Compare that to USA's 200+ clubs, each of whom holds at least one trial a year. Add in DVG's clubs, also required to hold trials. Then, add in WDA's clubs, with far fewer clubs than either USA or DVG and no trial requirement for any of them. If AKC becomes the domain of schutzhund in this country, and the only organization whose titles are recognized, WHO is going to hold the trials needed to accommodate all those to want to participate? Remember, judges can only judge 12 dogs per day (or the equivalent)."

Kim,

Perhaps you need to review the REST of Danny's message on his blog.  In case you don't know (which apparently you don't from your post), he is the PRESIDENT of WDA!!  Get it now????  HE is making the 'BETRAYAL of WDA by GSDCA clear on his blog.

As has been announced the GSDCA (not the GSDCA-WDA) will host the 2013 WUSV World Championship to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the GSDCA. The Committee appointed by the GSDCA to begin preparations for the event:

David Landau, Chair
Tish Walker, VP of the GSDCA, Temporary Assistant Chair
Martylou Plinski
Mary Gattone
Carmen Battaglia
Jim York
Bill Burggraaf
Suzanne Kinman

Can anyone tell me if any of the above mentioned people has ever even put a BH on one of their dogs, or even attempted to do so?
Carmen Battaglia (or as I like to call him "fuckface")???
-don't forget that this is the idiot who shows up at Andrew Hunt's puppy mill conferences year after year to show the puppy millers how to more effectively produce more puppies.
He must have a monetary interest in producing gas chambers for pets and the drug manufacturer that produces the euthanasia shots!
He was also the man who fought so hard to get Hunt accepted as a member of the GSDCA.

Do we really want idiots like this guy and his cohorts running the world's foremost Schutzhund event???
