I use the childs low powered bb gun. Much easier than a paint ball gun and will just sting enough to really deter the dogs.

since the dogs are friendly, try attaching a note to their collars, make it big, bright and obvious.. if this doens't work, a no kill shelter just might be a safer place for them to live.

Whenever it was (I forgot which day) that those two dogs came up to our gate at night......I ran towards them saying  Go!!!.......Well, ironic but I have not seen them sense.  Now if only I could get rid of that rooster and all of the chickens.  They were literally walking right beside our fence in the field earlier today. My dogs booked towards the back when I let them outside (I didn't know they were beside the fence) and my dogs went right down there.  Stupid rooster and chickens didn't even flinch, not knowing my dogs would have killed every one of them.  I'm really, really getting sick of that rooster though, he crows every hour of the day, sometimes he'll do it for 30 minutes at a time.  I thought roosters were suppose to do that in the morning? Not morning through parts of night time. I went back to the house and got an old bbgun out, but by the time I got to the fence they were too far away.  I won't go around shooting a real gun, but I'm getting one fairly soon....oh how tempting it would be to shoot that thing.

Document, document, document.  Take pictures/video and keep a journal, sounds like lots of work but it may be worth it.  Then go talk to the owners, show the pictures/video.  Let them know that it is happening, although I suspect they already know.  Then say you will take it the legal route with the proof if they do not start acting like responsible owners.  At least you have the proof and gave them the chance after showing them the proof.  I had to do something similar with some dogs that kept coming into my yard, I borrowed one of those wildlife cameras that are motion activated and it worked wonders and showed me going out to shoo them away.  It also showed how they were aggressive toward my dogs first.  Animal control was forced to do something and the owners were fined.  Funny how money motivates.

Unfortunately in many cases you can't fix stupid so this may not work.  Good luck

Mindhunt, did you read my comment above yours? Ever since I ran at the two dogs I haven't seen them since lol.  Kind of odd, but maybe that's all it took to get them to stay away.   It's the rooster that is driving me nuts. He was crowing at 6 this morning.  Unfortunately I don't know who owns him or the chickens.  They just walk up here through the holes in the trailor park fence....and walk all over the place.  He walks around all proud, even when my dogs charged down the yard to our back fencne, he didn't budge or even flinch.  That annoyed me even more lol.  Regardless......I'm not going back there to the trailor park.  The only way I would feel comfortable walking through there is with an AK-47 and body armor.  People have been shot down there, meth labs busted,  and I see rednecks down there with guns at times too.  You have your rednecks.....ghetto types....whatever else.  I don't dislike anyone or look at someone different because of the lack of money....but how they present themselves towards everyone else.  I wouldn't trust any of them. About two years ago a few of the people down there were shooting bottle rockets at our dogs, and paintballs as well.   And then they were hiding in our fields one night yelling out stuff while we were walking around (towards us).  Needless to say we called the cops on them and nothing like that has ever happened again.  But for now....my only annoyance is the rooster and the chickens....still coming close to our fence.  I don't want to lose a dog over one of them, I'd love to just catch all of them and take them off somewhere.
