Dude, my mistake.  Wearing a winning teams jersey does not make one a winner. To spell it out for you, buying a malinois doesn't make one a winner. No matter how many win a trial.

Taser... was 5 time police dog national champion. Only dog to do that.

Cairo....was instrumental in the death of #1 terrorist Osama bin laden.

and the Top 10 competition dogs of 2011 are all Malinois.

Cairo....was instrumental in the death of #1 terrorist Osama bin laden.

They use GSD's, Malinois and Dutch Shepherds and crosses.  They have no preference for breed, just really good working dogs.  They test and hand pick the dogs they use.

you  know this because you know some one who now's
some one who works  Military dogs?
Cairo was a Malinois and he was the only dog involved in the
final take down....You hear any thing else and it is a lie.
Cairo was  a dog out of Finland trained for Nato. Don't
let people tell you it was a German shepherd.
Here is a Malinois from Swizerland for sale....Constintine.

Max,
I know this because I know who their trainers are.  I know how they select their dogs and I train with them periodically.  I also know many of the dog handlers, including the one that was shot down and killed recently in Afghanistan.  I can assure you the dog did not come from Finland and was not Nato trained.  I trained and certified with several of their trainers and are friends with them.  I will see them next week and will probably work some of their dogs.

My point was the dog may have been a Malinois, but they didn't select the dog because he was a Malinois.  They selected the dog that was up next for the mission.  Unfortunately, as usual you do not know everything.

you know this because you know some one who now's
some one who works Military dogs?

Don't confuse me with your buddy preston.  My posts come from my own experience and first hand knowledge, not "I heard it from some one who knows someone who's cousin overheard it at a restaurant" BS.  Or my favorite "I saw it on youtube" crap.

The irony here being that I didn't take the post as a Malinois vs GSD comment, or even a slam on Malinois, but as a "sport" vs "real" comment.

It was a "sport vs real" comment, but it could have been taken so many ways.  Definitely not a knock on Malinois.  So you had it right.  Naturally, it turned into a little bit of a dig on Malinois owners.  But looking at Dude and Max how could you not find them funny....   Dude is funny in a ha ha kind of way and Max is .....just funny in a very different way, not a funny ha ha way.

by Duderino on 29 September 2011 - 04:09

I took it as sarcasm pairing up "sport" with the "sport" of soccer and the dog interrupting the game as just kind of a funny video.  But that's just me.  I didn't think it was a slam on the Malinois being ball crazy.  I guess the photo that Max posted blows the "Malinois are sleeve sucking prey monsters" theory out the window.

Slam,
We have never met, so any personal commits,.. mean nothing.
Unfortunately my commits on the topic have been edited(not by me) so people
cannot read everything which would make my commits have more
weight to them and show the sarcasm for what it really is.
The Malinois has been severely misjudged and has had to fight
it's way in an unforgiving field of insecure blowhards. But it has
been my extreme pleasure to see this breed continue to improve and
quiet the critics. When telling people that I threaten women you have lied.
You have no idea how serious something like that is, like little boy.
I hope that people can see past the sarcasm and learn. Even when
the hecklers make it difficult. I saw this post as funny you made an issue out
of it not me.

by zdog on 29 September 2011 - 16:09

I gotta say, I"ve never met "slam", but i'm pretty sure he isn't a little boy.
I also gotta say, those of us, "slam" included, that actually train or compete or work with our dogs have seen plenty of good dogs over the years, of all sorts of breeds.  I'm pretty sure every good dog that we've had the pleasure to work or work with has stood out no matter the breed.  Even though I train with a lot of people that chose to compete in ring sports, i love to give them shit.  They like to give it back to me.  I like to tease them about Malinois.  WHen they actually think their way thru training, I say they must be part GSD. they like to tease me that my gsd's must be part Mali cause they're as fast as they come.  Until one starts whining, then they are sure it's all GSD :)

Even though all of our dogs exhibit generally the same behaviors, some more than others and some only in certain situations, the fact of the matter is, they are all good dogs.  They have good drives, good nerves, good temperment and have a blast doing what we do.  The fact that some may be a mali or rottie, or apbt is just reason to tease the handler.  I've been around a while, but I wasn't aware of the scourge against the Malinois.
