When I worked it out, it matched what you had said--as far as what would be produced. And what I said in this thread also matched your conclusions. That's why I am confused.

To be honest, the bicolor having its own pattern matches my own experience better--or maybe it's just simpler and easier to think about in those terms.

But so far, I haven't found a combination using the modifier alleles that conclusively contradicts my own experience.

Reread your posts on page5; thanks :)

I went pedigree-digging this morning. There are a few a bi-colours, several melanistic saddlebacks, and one of the contributing lines a ways back was mostly sables.

Right now I guess I'll just have to wait and see how they grow up. So far no pictures of the little tykes, but hopefully I'll get some soon.
