Believe me, there was no other cause but the kibble (at least in my case). At first, I thought that there was a food allergy or intolerance. We tried switching foods. They would be fine on the initial "bland diet" of boiled chicken and rice, then we would start to add the new food and have the same problem. I decided I was transitioning too fast so we transitioned over a month-long period instead of two weeks. Same problems. Intermittent explosive diarrhea (male GSD), urinary tract infections (female collie - she has a legitimate cast iron stomach). Foods we tried over several months: TOTW (various), Orijen (various), Acana, EVO, Solid Gold, Timberwolf.
We also had several rounds of Panacur over those months, metronidazole, etc. etc. etc. etc.
I just got fed up. It scared me at first, but it also scared me that I couldn't keep weight on my dog.
LOL, I hear ya about the the poop splatter. Jack had been confined to the kitchen (no carpet THANK GOD) and managed to splatter it up to the ceiling.
Also, a note: freezing wild game may not kill all Trichinella parasites, as the species found in wild game is resistant to freezing.

Thanks for that info, Molly! Trichinosis can be fatal, so that's very good to know. And that's yet another reason why if you ARE going to feed raw, you really, really need to educate yourself!

Not all Kibbles are Crap food far from it. and i guess most of you Guys feeding Raw live in the USA where you can get the Meat and offal etc at a good price YOU' will not get it over here where i live except at a human cost price or nearly so that is guaranteed.
What makes me chuckle is and i bet i am correct in saying this, I bet many of you Guys eat Food from the Supermarket that comes out of Packets, How many of you eat meat from the butcher, and fish not from packets, How many of you eat two fresh Veggies every day and cook a dinner from scratch not out of a Packet for 7 days every week of every year,
Here is a old Guy who in his long life has never eaten a hamburger or a Hot dog,
This Old Guy has eaten Rats, Hedgehogs birds (various). and in part snakes in my lifetime had to to live, but never in civey street hamburgers or hot dogs never once, Never been in a Mac Donald's or such like.
I cook my own food every day of every year fresh.
Yet you feed your dogs raw and preach kibble is rubbish yet look at the eating habits of many humans some of you among those people i bet if you are honest. We cannot but wonder the populous is getting heavier generation after generation,

Good points, Steve!
I live alone, and often can't be bothered doing much cooking. I do give my dogs high quality kibble, with a dollop of Merrick's Wingalings ontop of it.
They are probably eating a more balanced diet than I am!

I have lived and hunted in South Texas in a area that has a extremely high Coyote population.
I have always been intersted in observing what a wild canine will choose to eat when given the oppurtunity.
As we are under sever pressure by Feral Hogs ,they are shot on sight .
Sometimes they manage to get away and are found the next day after the coyotes have had a first meal.
They are always without exception disembowled and the digestive tract and offal are the first order on the menu.
I assume they must crave the nutrients that are available.
A little off topic but that is observation on a REAL raw diet

nice observation. I have heard that an animal knows what nutrients its body is craving and when he makes a kill he will consume different body parts accordingly. Makes perfect sense to me.

Steve - I agree with you. I will be the first to admit my eating habits are not good.
I tell people all the time that my dog eat better than I do. They think I'm joking, but I'm not.
Of course, my husband grew up in backwards Georgia. He happily ate fresh caught squirrel, rabbit, and other such small animals. He does draw the line at a rat, though.

Getting nutrition advice from a vet is like getting nutrional advice from a medical doctor. Unless they've gone on to further education outside the standard they don't know any more than the average person.
