Wow, are these masks so common in the States? I don't see such masks much, maybe the darkness is due to being a cross between show and work, if that is the reason then you should do more crosses. Do you maintain the good anatomy as well as the betteer pigment? The aunt anatomy is amazing, what a beautiful princess, a very beautiful dry bitch, very pleasing to one's eye, I envy you on this wonderful dog.

Thanks so much Ibrahim!
She is a fantasitc girl with wonderful drives! Lida wanted me to post her picture.
I think that it does have alot to do with the cross bringing out the mask but it's not totally that. Some people just don't like them so they don't breed for them. This puppy of mine here was the last one left in the litter and guess why??? Because everyone thought he was too dark and didn't like it!!! I'm with you though and I love the dark mask as well as the dark pigment and this puppy was my pick from the start. He is now in a SCH/SAR home and I kept breeding privileges. I have been told by some experienced German show people that the dark face is not prefered because it also masks some of the expression. I suppose with an all black face that is true, but I LOVE this coloring!! The mother of this puppy is also colored very dark.
On the conformation.... it has been my experience that it is not consistant within the litter on the half and half crosses, but if you add in another generation of show the consistancy seems to come back in. Keep in mind though that, the conformation of the working line makes all the difference in the world. Breeding a show line to a working line that is V structure and KKL 1 and has a good background of such is obviously something that will bring/keep good V structure. This is also true of the dark pigmentation. No all working lines have good pigment and dark masks. So, like anything else it's alot of research and planning that makes the successes.
