brynjulf is right about Kelp darkening the coat. I've figured it out after 2 winters. LOL Interesting.

I have a farmer friend who feeds this Kelp to her Black Labs almost everyday. This Black Lab's coat is the darkest most glassy of black I've ever seen. So last year I did the Kelp with my Malinois off and on through out the winter. Her coat did get darker come spring, but not enough really to be noticable to people who really didn't see her often. Although I could tell. This winter however, I gave puree' Kelp a few times a week beginning late summer. Her coat is soo dark that when people who don't see her often ask me if I got a new Malinois. She is very dark in color right now, exactly like her dad who was a dark red/black color but she is way more black. Amazing. Her coat isn't as thick or plush as her dad's appears to be though, more tighter to the skin.

I think your on to something brynjulf with the Kelp comment. JMO.
