Molly, actually, leaving it out is a bad idea. Felines are designed to eat and then fast...leaving food where they can smell it triggers hormones/chemical production in the brain that actually lead to more urinary problems because the mere smell of food alkalizes the urine. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. I went through hell w/mine before figuring it out. The food you got is fine; he'll be much better off. You can try red meat if this doesn't work well enough on its own.

Jenni,
Got a question for you.....
The price of some of the frozen food is confusing.....
I looked at purchasing a couple of 2lb rolls of Primal...and it pops up saying something like $12.99 each.(?)...are they individual rolls?...or a box of (X) amount?
We use K9Kravings sometimes...and it is sold by the case..1lb & 2lb rolls....but the price is per case.
I'm just slightly confused?.....I think $12.99 a roll is high!

I do leave the dry food out for my female cat, the male with urinary issues is fed his canned food once/day upstairs and shut in the bathroom (with the litterbox) overnight - he rarely comes downstairs and rarely eats the dry food - but I can take it up and feed it once/day to the female cat instead - thanks for the tip.

Then you're probably fine, Molly.
Robin, I found it confusing as well. Without seeing the bags in front of me, I had a really hard time comparing sizes and prices to where I usually buy, where I pay about $12-14 (depending on the formula) for a 3 or 4lb bag, *I THINK*...which is a lot, BUT I'm feeding a puppy under 3 lbs....so it's of little consequence when it lasts several weeks. I would probably skip it unless I was ordering a bunch of other stuff. I just ordered the "sample" sizes of the Primal and Bravo, and they were pretty small. I think I will probably just stay w/the Nature's Variety and drive to get it.

Yeah.....it seemed too steep for me in price.
K9Kravings is a better buy...per weight and price.

Where do you buy that, Robin?

Jenni,
The company that makes and distributes it was at a show 2 yrs ago...maybe the USA Sieger Show?
I spoke with the guy and asked about buying it in bulk. He gave me a brochure and prices per variety and 1lb rolls. (They are sold in 30lb boxes of either 1 or 2lb rolls).
*I could not afford...nor did I have the place to keep the quantity that was needed to get the *special prices*.
BUT...a friend of mine decided to call them and speak to them directly. They gave him the name of a distributor/supplier of theirs, and he got a pretty fair deal.
He orders 4-6 30lb boxes at a time...and it comes to approx $5.50 per 2lb roll.....it could be significantly less...if we could afford to order 800 + lbs at a time.
If we had more people within our group that fed the food, and could buy 4-6 cases at a time @...then we could....but it's just him & myself.
Try contacting the company...and see if there is someone close to you that is a supplier....and check out THEIR specific "deals"....otherwise...I will ask my friend later today, and get his supplier's name.
I think the price is decent for the quality of food.

That's what I wondered. I can store a decent amount, or would order enough that I might be able to help. I don't know exactly where you live, but someone said you're in my area. If you want to PM me, maybe we can work something out. I get all the prey model raw I want for my big dogs, but the cat and the little one are hard to feed that way.

Robin, there are warehouses in the area that will rent out rooms for frozen goods. When I checked a few years ago the price was fairly reasonable. If you can find a few people who would want to split the cost it might give you better pricing on large amounts. It's the shipping that's the killer.

Ok, I just went back to see if I could repeat that deal, and ordered 3 more bags of the Canidae grain free in 30lb bags. I also got a $7 harness for my Chi. My total was $106............so that's $99 for the Canidae...bringing it to $33/bag......AWESOME PRICE!!!
Don't ask me how- it just happened. This time at checkout, instead of the paypal option coming up, it took me to their own secure checkout and my cart had an "automatic discount" applied for $26.59...whatever it is, I ain't complainin'!!!
