Rescues need a rehoming fee to cover micro chipping, food, medical expenses such as spay and neuter.  It isn't cheap.  If they did it for free, how could they stay alive financially.

Most rescue groups don't use craigslist; they actually screen their prospective homes. You can't really compare them to some random person who wants to dump their dog, free or otherwise.

I posted rescue dogs on CL in the past. It didnt change the person from having to fill out an app and submit to a home check. The reality is...  CL gets a huge viewing and advertising is free. Usually once someone finds out the price of a dog, the ad gets flagged. It may sound nicer to advertise dogs here but that doesnt mean the dog is going to get a better home.
