Thanks so much for all the continuing help.  And sunsilver thanks for the info on the dog training levels.  The website where you saw my puppy "Cookie" is the breeders website.  Since we are so pleased with our new puppy, we took many pictures of her (proud parents).  I sent some to the breeder, and she was pleased enough that she put a photo of Cookie on her website.  That just happened a few days ago! I also read something about the Schutzhund training on that site, I just didn't pay much attention since it was:  far over my head at this point and I was just interested in a family pet.  After we brought Cookie home, I realized how important it is to learn as much about your dog as possible and started reading more.  It seems to me that these dogs are so smart, much more intelligent than most of the mixed breed dogs I've had over the years.  Because of that, I'm realizing that I need lots of training, too, not just my puppy.
After re-reading the posts again, it finally dawned on me what sable59 meant by posting this comment:
why act?introduce yourself and say you own a kennel and sell cats and labs too.  I'm so dense, didn't even think that sable59 was implying that I am the breeder and that website is mine!!!  I can see how someone might assume that, but it's not correct.  I just didnt' mention the specific breeder because I didn't know about proper etiquette on this site (promoting breeders, etc.)   I am not experienced enough and really  don't know much about the breeder other than we loved the little baby she had for sale..   I found the puppy on the website through an AIKC link to the breeder who's kennel is in a small town near Tampa, Florida.  The breeder had this one little puppy left (the runt) and was letting her go for a good price.  From my limited experience, it seemed like a good place to buy a puppy.  On the day we went to pick up the puppy, we were able to see both parents and felt they looked like great dogs.  So we brought the little baby girl home.

I'm soo so sorry. It's my fault entirely, for sounding accusatory towards you. Again, sorry! I shouldn't have posted without quadruple checking. I feel awful. :( Sorry.

On another note, here's some helpful links (They could be wrong!! I sure hope not, though. How embarrasing.) You've probably already found these, but they might help. :)

Cookie's dad (Poldi): http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/646841.html

Cookie's mom (Dicee): http://www.delcotampa.com/dogs/dicee/index.html
  Dicee's dad on PDB (Manni) : http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/458235.html
Dicee's mom on PDB (Ullie): http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/454181.html

You should put her on the database even though you don't plan to breed, because it could help the breeder and future buyers of the breeder's puppies. And it will help you understand your dog's pedigree better. :) It's not hard at all, if I can do it, anyone can, lol.

One more note: Sunsilver, where were you when I first planned to get a GSD? That was a very nice, simple description of titles!

Thanks for your response to my explanation.  I can see how one might at first think I was the breeder since my puppy was front and center on her website.  It isn't clear that the puppy was sold--almost sounds like the puppy is still at the breeders.  Anyway, the photo wasn't anything I requested, though she is a pretty girl.  Thanks for all the info on mom and dad pedigree.  For some reason I wasn't finding the mom's info.  Duh, I really am new to all this pedigree stuff.  I've had dogs my whole life, rescued many, fostered many, and loved them all.  So, I've had experience with dogs--just not with this kind of dog.  I must admit that I thought I knew so much about dogs, but I have a TON to learn about these purebred beauties.  So, I will keep asking my newbie questions 'cause I know I've found a great place to get the right information.  Thanks for everything.  Judith

From the pedigrees that leffew posted, your Cookie is all German Show Lines.

Enjoy your pup!

Thank you, lefffew. I learned about the GSD the same way you did, by asking newbie type questions. And when I found a useful site like the one I linked to, I bookmarked it. I have over 100 bookmarks for GSDs alone, and about the same number for dogs in general!

I hate the way newbies on this site are often treated rudely, so I try to counteract that by helping them out.

Farmer Jane: Please continue to ask questions! Many new people to German shepherds are probably wondering the same type questions as you are (including me). This is a really good thread to do it in, too. It's hard to gather the information. I've been researching GSDs for about two years, and still find new stuff everyday.

Sunsilver: Yes, I have a lot of bookmarks, too, but I think you've topped me. lol I try to go through and clean it up every once and a while. And I agree about newbies (maybe because I am one). Many people complain about ignorant people, but don't ever try to inform them. Good to see someone that is willing to help. And you're very good at it, some of the people that try to help just end up confusing them even more! lol

I am so glad I found this website.  All the information you have shared would have taken me a very long time to find out. After reading information on this site, I am starting to realize that we were pretty lucky to get a puppy with good bloodlines.  It could have turned out very differently, and we could have just as easily ended up with a puppy with inherent problems from bad breeding.  Whew! I intend to make up for that ignorance by learning all I can now.

Name changed.  Because of the name Cookie getting confused with dog treats, we decided to rename our puppy (hope that's not bad karma)!  Anyway, I was looking for a more German name on the internet two days ago.  The name Elsa just seemed right and it means noble. So I thought what a great name for our puppy (instead of Cookie).  Then I clicked on "more about the name" and learned that Elsa can be short for Elizabeth. Wow, it really took my breath away.  You see, Elizabeth was Richard's mom who lived with us for two years, I was her caregiver, and she so loved the animals.  Sadly Elizabeth passed away a year ago on November 27--the same date that I found the name Elsa.  Maybe Elizabeth had something to do with that name change!!  Sorry for diverting off topic.  Anyway, I will look into putting Elsa on the database.  thanks again for everything.

            Farmer Jane,,,,

Welcome to the PDB....There are some knowledgeable people on this site...be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry....and you'll do fine here....Enjoy your beautiful pup...

Hello,
rainforestscouts asks if the sire's birthday is correct, and I don't know for sure.  If it is, that is a young male... don't know at what age a male can/should breed.  After I found this site and started really trying to decipher the pedigrees, I wondered about that?
