Hi.  I dont know if you opted for the surgery for your dog, but I HIGHLY recommend it!  I have a border collie/shepherd who just turned 11 years young on 1/1/11.  She had a tumor in her spleen, which we thought to be malignant.  At first the vet was not going to do the surgery, but we checked my dog Lucky again in 2 weeks and it hadnt spread, so we opted for the surgery. (otherwise she would have died within 3 months of a ruptured spleen).  Lucky came through the surgery with flying colors and was able to go home the day after surgery.  She had surgery on Friday December 31st in the morning, and by Saturday 4pm, the vet said Come get her, shes pacing around and wants to come home.  She had a quick recovery, and staples out 10 days later, and I am happy to say, the $2,100 was definitely worth it.  It is now 6 weeks later and she is as good as new.  She does have the occasional runs, but other than that she is fine.  Please look more into the surgery if you havent done it yet.  Good luck!!
