Apparently the Kennel Club are very worried that our "GSDL/WUSV GSD Events" will prove to be very attractive and very popular with GSD exhibitors, especially when they include "BRITISH CHAMPION" status. The KC are also apparently very worried that many other Breed Clubs representing other breeds will find it very attractive to establish their very own SHOW SYSTEM and include their very own much more meaningful Championship status.
And I feel so very wonderful about all of this.

Sue B. In a previous topic on this forum you said : I do not see how we could possibly be sure of who does or does not attend the meeting and of those that do whether their non appearance was due to a democratic stance or merely due to having other business committments on the day.
And now youre making the statement: obviously their committee must feel the need to be taught how to judge and recognise unsoundness and need the benefit of GG;s experience
Why the sudden change of heart?

Zac i for one could not give a monkeys because i voted against signing the undertaking but the committee of the club i am a member of here in Scotland advocated the signing and pushed very hard to get it passed now what was the point in that and then not even get of there backsides and go to what was an important meeting of all the signing clubs to me they have stabed the members in the back getting them to vote the way they wanted and then do sod all now thats dedication for you.
We do have trains in scotland zac so no overnight stay would have been required but if one was needed they could have claimed it on expences

Zac, I havent had a change of heart - as we are still not sure who did or did not attend this meeting (for example it seems now Kent did not attend although earlier suggestions said it did), OR if those who did not attend were taking a democratic stance (as had been suggested) OR that some non attendance was merely due to having other business committments on the day, ALL OF WHICH STILL STANDS, so no, I havent had a change of heart at all.
You make much reference to the fact that 11 of 21 clubs attended and seem to think this is a majority...THINK AGAIN, TWENTY SIX CLUBS were present at the Breed Council Meeting that gave the GSD PARTNERSHIP a Mandate to represent them, the Kennel Club saw fit to IGNORE these representatives, so the fact that only 11 clubs turned up last Friday to discuss our breeds future is IMO a measley number and certainly NOT REPRESENTATIVE of the MAJORITY of GSD Breeders / Judges / Exhibitors. In fact since it has now been stated WHERE the meeting ACTUALLY took place, I can guarentee that some ONLY turned up for AN ALL EXPENSES PAID TRIP AROUND CLARGES STREET !!! Thats how utterly pathetic some of these people are.
Furthermore Zac, whereas you said, "If club members were *so* bothered about having a representative attend from their own club, then perhaps they could have made it their business to find out who was going, and offer to attend themselves if there was a short fall in numbers but I dont suppose that anyone did." What an utterly stupid statement that is, as the Kennel Club wrote the invitation to the Club Committee, then surely it was the RESPONSIBILITY of that Committee to FIND someone able to attend the meeting and if no-one was available within the committee they should have then made contact with the Members and NOT as you have suggested the other way around !!!
The fact remains that although it now appears 11 clubs attended (but who knows this number could change again) we are still unaware of HOW MANY and WHO were in attendance. As I said before Sth Western had its rep as a speaker, Sheffield and BAGSD could have had the same representative but in any case two of the BAGSD reps AW and BH along with the GG are all KC members so ONE COULD ASK whose welfare were they there representing anyway, THE GSD BREED? THE KENNEL CLUB? OR SIMPLY AND MORE LIKELY JUST THEIR OWN !
Of the others the BC Sec probably represented the BC and Essex (but if not might as well have done) along with the BC Chairman representing the BC and HOV. You see Zac I have now named six of the 11 organisations that could have been represented by a grand total of five people, not a MAJORITY by any stretch of the imagination, hardly a representation at all !! Indeed , considering that only two of the people mentioned here actually exhibit GSD's and only one of them has actually bred a dog able to gain KC CC status in the past 15 yrs it speaks volumes (or not) about the kind of representatives of OUR BREED the KC actually want to TALK TO, the KC continue to prove themselves an embarrassment.

By any standards 11 clubs attending, with individuals representing more than one club, is very poor indeed. In my experience we seem to have always been governed by the small minority, who i think are so enthusiastic they deter others. I have no doubt the KC are questioning their actions and should be very concerned that the GSD fraternity showing the way, yet again. The League event was very well attended, considering the circumstances. With further development and structure I have no doubt will quickly prove extremely popular and with it bring larger entries with greater depth of quality (which is a real big issue). Breeders will then be more able to correct the smaller problems, only at this point should "British Champion" status or something similar be introduced. This strong competition will add the required desire to achieve, similar to when KC competitions were well attended, their was always exhibitors creeping upto the far flung corners trying to pick up easy CC's. The real important awards, that everybody recognised, were won at the best run shows with record attendances. Whilst I agree that this is the way forward and nothing should deter the Leaue from fully developing an alternative system, I think if the KC are offering an olive branch it should not be ignored, structured dialogue doesn't mean we have to conform or agree and can only be for the betterment of the breed.

Ooooooh Dave,
I almost see where you are coming from but so many of the KC actions have been downright dishonest on their text content, that any Olive branch could come from a rose bush with a cover over it... We are strong enough to use them as a Somerset House I feel, and become that we dont need them at all...... let them know that they have boobed in their draconian attitudes big style and let them WANT badly for our attention....... in fact .... let them come to us in any shape or form....
Body language says a lot, and if all meetings are called by one party and at their chosen venue, they are holding the trump card in their estimation....
lets wait until we call the shots totally and they need to catch them. Before that - make no waves with them, ignore them in fact and their silly rules, but attend their shows if we have a mind to, for the fact that perhaps a well respected judge is judging, or whatever.. choices Mo.

The whole GSD breed here within the UK should certainly be willing to have structured dialogue with the Kennel Club. Therein lies the key to such dialogue, it has to be with our WHOLE GSD breed, NOT with varying sections such as the "Alsatianists" within the Kennel Club, or the "Middle of the road" with their Kennel Club members (the suits). or with the BAGSD and their Kennel Club member chairman & vice chairman, and Bill Hardaway the Kennel Club vice Chairman, and Caroline Kisko the over ambitious Kennel Club Secretary with her even more over ambitious friend Simon Luxmoore (KC General Committee member) , and Mr "knee jerk" himself Ronnie Irving the Kennel Club Chairman, or any particular Taxi Driver.
The Kennel Club have hugely contributed to building their very own "house of cards" since the "Pedigree Dogs Exposed" TV programme. They are continuing to be divisive and stubborn and arrogant, to the point and even past the point of revulsion, for many involved with our breed and many other breeds.
The Kennel Club treated our GSD Partnership diabolically. Our GSD Partnership was never going to be perfect, for us or for the Kennel Club, however they represented our collective views and aspirations for our breed in the most structured, comprehensive and representative manner for many decades. The GSDP should have been respected and nurtured by the Kennel Club, instead they disrespected and dismissed them in all kinds of diabolical ways. The knee jerk reaction of the Kennel Club with its dictatorial "GSD undertaking" and its insulting and divisive press releases, alongside its refusal to answer legitimate questions relating to major concerns about its "GSD undertaking", which proved conclusively the Kennel Club where playing "mind games" with our GSD Breed Clubs and their members. This, along with the mis-information being spread by the weasels amongst us, particularly the "weasel" within BAGSD has brought out the VERY BEST within our GSD breed, its proven pioneering and innovative spirit, a spirit which has been clearly and emphatically demonstrated over many decades, a spirit which will never be quelled or destroyed by the Kennel Club or the "weasels within" our own breed.
Our breed has now opened the door to many fantastic opportunities, it will never be closed. These opportunities have to be nurtured and exploited to their full potential over the coming months,, years and decades. The question is, will the Kennel Club "HELP or HINDER" our GSD breed in its quest for our breeds fantastic future? Judging by their appalling behaviour over recent years, I have no doubts as to the answer to that question.
When its comes to structured dialogue with the Kennel Club, our breed will not be found lacking, it is a very sad fact that the Kennel Club have and will prove to be very seriously lacking and very seriously divisive. It is the Kennel Club who have built their "house of cards" and they may now realise it is extremely vulnerable, particularly in the area of "exhibiting of pedigree dogs within Great Britain". Our breed and several other breeds are asking the same question, who needs the Kennel Club when it comes to exhibiting our dogs?

David apart from the snidy digs at certain people that is the most sensible post I have ever read from you. if you could only lose the nasty personal remarks then more people would take you seriously. We all want the same thing for the breed - healthy dogs and enjoyable shows, but you alienate people with your comments when you should be trying to include everyone no matter what their 'persuasion'. It was also a pleasure to read the post without all the unnecessary capitals and colouring.

doppel: I think there is a compliment in there somewhere?
Surely it isn't wrong to point out the 'dangers' of a possible journey, particularly when learnt from knowledge and experience?
I can assure you doppel, many knowledgeable people in our breed, do take me seriously, very seriously indeed.

Indeed there was, but as a self confessed 'middle of the roadite' I feel your attitude towards people who have differing views is very uncompromising, and for the whole GSD breed to come together you need to embrace (or at least acknowledge) other peoples opinions.
